Louisiana to Los Angeles Organizing Committee

Today we celebrate the life of one of our co-founders of the Louisiana to Los Angeles Organization, Aline Heisser-Ovid

Aline’s dedication, love, and commitment helped build the foundation of this organization and the lasting friendships and traditions we share today. Through her vision and presence, she helped keep our New Orleans culture, unity, and spirit alive for so many generations while raising funds for scholarships.

Although her presence will truly be missed, her legacy will forever remain a part of this organization. The Louisiana to Los Angeles Organization will never forget her contributions, her warmth, and the impact she made on all of us.

Please keep her family, friends, and all who loved her in your prayers during this difficult time.

Rest peacefully and thank you for helping pave the way for us all. 💜💚💛⚜️

Richard Wright a long time member of the LALA Organization passed away on March 30, 2026.

In the past years at any of the LALA’s Backyard Boogie, you’ll find Richard cooking up his Red Beans and Rice with the Pete Hot Sauage for all to enjoy or selling tickets for the Annual Scholarship Balls.

Richard will be greatly missed.

His family is now in need and asking for help for his burial. If you're able to donate, please click on the link below. No amount is too small and again funds raise is going directly for burial/cemetery expenses.
The family thank you in advance and know its truly, truly appreciated. ❤️🙏🏽❤️

My name is Sharon "Cookie" Sumlin, and I come to you with a heavy heart as… Sharon "Cookie" Sumlin needs your support for A Loving Farewell for Richard Wright
