To date, we have collected 16,000 plastic bottles and built one eco-friendly home - an accomplishment we are incredibly proud of. Despite our efforts, over 70% of the Democratic Republic of Congo residents have limited access to proper housing infrastructure, health treatment, and waste management services. While we recognize the opportunities to create an ecosystem that fosters economic growth in DRC, it’s essential to develop a solution that other countries in the Sub-Saharan region can scale as they face similar challenges.

that it takes 16,000 recycled bottles to build one of our sustainable and affordable homes in the Democratic Republic of the Congo? With that we are able to provide adequate housing to those in low-income regions, provide employment, and reduce the reliance on open dumping.

The global pandemic has taken a massive toll on the already existing rising population concerns in Sub-Saharan Africa. Latest research and studies show that the high levels of poverty, minimal access to services, and limited opportunities both economically and employment wise demonstrates a risk for social unrest.

A functioning housing market can be a vital economic sector, can create jobs, and can provide access to necessary services. Avenir is continuing to use their responsible design and aiming to create a second home in the DRC. In doing so, we plan to provide affordable housing solutions to those in low income areas, reduce the plastic population, and create stability for the residents and the region.

⁣⁣"The UN Global Sustainability Development Report 2019 projects the annual global resource usage will reach over 18 tons per capita by 2060 with unsustainable impacts from agricultural land area, industrial water and green house emissions. The Life cycle of plastics and electronics yield similar results.

Avenir Social presents a practical way of addressing these sustainability issues through building affordable homes using recycled plastics. With the Fast-growing African population, there is a need to help people live sustainably.

Today, we are launching Avenir Social in Congo, tomorrow in Cameroon and eventually we plan on covering the African continent landscape one sustainable home at a time."
