Yesterday, the LA/OC Building and Construction Trades Council met with the California High-Speed Rail Authority CEO Ian Choudri at a roundtable discussion regarding the future of infrastructure in our state. From over 16,000+ jobs created across the 119 miles of active construction; the California High-Speed Rail Authority is a strong partner to ensure the future of statewide infrastructure is built safe and built strong with union labor.

Last Thursday, a new group of delegates was sworn in to the LA/OC Building & Construction Trades Council. Brothers Matthew Mendibles, from Painters Local 1036, Jason Peterson, from IBEW Local 11 and LA/OC Trades Organizer, and Tony Hernandez, from Iron Workers Local 416, were all made official in last Thursday's ceremony. We're proud to welcome these Brothers as they help keep the LA and Orange Counties .

Bradlee Crihfield's passion and commitment to the community's development was instrumental for passing the Community Workforce Agreement with Bellflower Unified in June and that is the exact kind of forward-thinking leadership that we are proud to support.

Last Saturday, Orange County Representative Andrew Gonzales received the inaugural Men of Impact Award from Congressman Lou Correa alongside Doug Mangione of IBEW Orange County 441. The award celebrates the lasting community impact that Andrew, Doug, and others have made in the 46th Congressional District. We're proud to work on behalf of our members across Orange County and look forward to continuing that work at the highest level for years to come.

Last Thursday, we had the pleasure of engaging in a roundtable discussion with Port of Long Beach CEO Dr. Noel Hacegaba. This roundtable was a great opportunity to both reinforce and build on our strong relationship with the Port of Long Beach. The Port of Long Beach has a $3.3 billion 10-year Capital Improvement Plan under a Project Labor Agreement, and billions more in private investment. The Port of Long Beach is a shining example to the world of how government, business, and skilled labor can work in harmony to create a regional and national economic engine.
