We had such a fun summer at Adventures Ahead! We welcomed many new faces and filled our days with science projects, art, reading, math, and lots of hands-on fun.

The kids started the summer by creating their own “About Me” books, and this year we also introduced a point system based on attendance, participation, and overall performance. At the end of the program, our top three students received prizes for all their hard work.

It was a summer full of learning, creativity, and great memories!

Tomorrow we rise up to demand that the City finally close the Murphy oil drill site. For too many years, this site which is owned by the LA Catholic Archdiocese, has robbed residents of our health and the peaceful enjoymnet of our homes.

The city of L.A. has scheduled a hearing to gather testimony from residents and consider revoking an oil company’s permit to operate a facility in Jefferson Park.

E&B Natural Resources is our bad operator of the month!

E&B operates the Murphy drill site in South-LA, risking the health and safety of over 1,000 students and thousands more residents.

If you live in the LA area, here are 3 action you can do to help us shut down the Murphy drill site:

Join us on Saturday at a community town hall to learn more about the fight to shut down the Murphy drill site:

Hi everyone!

Years of community advocacy have finally moved the City of LA to schedule a Nuisance Abatement Revocation hearing to consider closing the drill site!

The City’s Nuisance Abatement Revocation process allows the City to investigate reported nuisances that have undermined public peace, health, and safety in the surrounding community. Given the long history of regulatory violations at the Murphy Drill Site, the hearing could result in the revocation of E&B’s conditional use permit - meaning it could shut down the drill site! This process is more potent than the one used to shut down the Jefferson Drill Site in 2019. It is our best shot at closing the Murphy Drill Site.

- Residents will share their firsthand accounts of health harms and other negative impacts from the Murphy Drill Site. We will recap the history of regulatory violations. Dr. Jill Johnson will share her research on public health harms to residents. EarthJustice attorneys will review the nuisance abatement process and next steps. You will leave with everything you need to turn out residents and speak at the July 23 online public hearing. RSVP for lunch!

“Too many of our neighborhoods have carried the burden of industrial pollution for decades,” said Richard Parks, President and Co-founder of Redeemer Community Partnership. “Culver City’s action shows that we don’t have to choose between economic opportunity and community health. By moving toward clean, zero-emissions manufacturing, we can reduce harmful pollution, protect families living nearby, and invest in a future where our communities can truly thrive.”
