⭐️A Special Thank You to Our IICXV Health Fair Leadership Team ⭐️
One highlight of the 15th Igorot International Consultation was the Health Fair, which became one of the most attended and well-received workshops. Participants praised it as comprehensive, educational, practical, and highly impactful.

This remarkable accomplishment was made possible through the leadership of Health Fair Co-Chairs Alice Campbell and Hilda Longid Aquino, whose dedication and commitment helped bring this important program to life. Together, they assembled an outstanding team of healthcare professionals, volunteers, and community partners who generously shared their time, expertise, and services with our attendees.

We extend our deepest appreciation to both Alice and Hilda for their leadership and service. We are especially grateful to Alice for her extraordinary efforts in coordinating, planning, and implementing the many components of the Health Fair, including recruiting sponsors, VIP guests, healthcare professionals, student nurses, and other volunteers who made the event such a success.

The Health Fair reflected the spirit of service, collaboration, and community that defines IICXV. We are pleased to share the following message from Alice Campbell recognizing the many nurses, technicians, student nurses, and volunteers whose contributions made this outstanding program possible.

❤️ Thank you, Alice, Hilda, and the entire Health Fair team, for helping make IICXV a memorable and meaningful experience for our community.

Below is Alice's Special Message of Thanks to all the many nurses, technicians, student nurses, and volunteers.

🩺IICXV Community Health Fair Thank-You and Recognition! 🩺

The Health Fair had an excellent turnout and was very well received by attendees. Our community partners, healthcare professionals, students, volunteers, donors, and everyone who contributed their expertise, resources, and spirit of service made its success possible.

🌟 Acknowledgment of Michael Wandag and the IICXV Planning Committee. 🌟

I would also like to personally thank you, Michael Wandag, President of BIMAK Los Angeles, for including the Community Health Fair in the IICXV program. Your vision and insight - linking sustainability with community health, partnership, and collaboration - came to fruition through this meaningful event. I am equally grateful to you and the IICXV Planning Committee for inviting me to serve as Co-Chair of the Community Health Fair and for entrusting me with the opportunity to help bring this important initiative to life.

👍Connection to the IICXV Theme of Sustainability👍

The Community Health Fair supported the IICXV theme of "Igorot Sustainability: Connecting Culture and Community" by recognizing that the long-term strength of our Igorot community depends on preserving our culture and traditions and protecting the health and well-being of our people.

A healthy community is better prepared to sustain its families, support its elders, educate its youth, develop future leaders, and pass its cultural identity and values from one generation to the next.

The Health Fair also demonstrated sustainability through collaboration. Healthcare professionals, community organizations, educational institutions, students, businesses, and volunteers combined their knowledge and resources to serve the community. These partnerships created connections that can continue beyond the event and support future health, education, and outreach initiatives.

👍Overall Leadership and Coordination👍

As Community Health Fair Co-Chair, I coordinated the overall planning and ex*****on of the Health Fair. This included program development; recruitment and communication with community partners; coordination of screenings, presentations, and wellness activities; volunteer and student assignments; registration; logistics; equipment; supplies; signage; giveaways; setup; and event closeout.

Bringing these many components together requires extensive coordination, collaboration, flexibility, and a shared commitment to creating a meaningful, well-organized experience for attendees.

👍Registration and Participation Support👍

From the moment attendees arrived, they were welcomed by the individuals staffing the registration area:
✅ Esther Watson
✅ Mildred Rader
✅ Kathi Jones
✅ Anne Hernandez
✅ Norlean Cedeno

They welcomed attendees, distributed Wellness Passports, volunteer T-shirts, and health Fair swag bags, provided directions, and helped maintain an organized participant flow throughout the event.

A special thank-you goes to the registration team, who managed a high volume of attendees while patiently providing hands-on assistance to individuals who needed help completing the registration process. Despite the steady flow of participants and frequent requests for assistance, their preparation, organization, and teamwork kept registration smooth and efficient. Their warm welcome and attentive support helped set a positive tone for each attendee's Health Fair experience.

Norlean Cedeno also helped document the Health Fair by taking candid photographs. Her photographs captured meaningful moments of service, participation, connection, and community engagement.

👍Participant Flow Assistance👍

As Health Fair Co-Chair, Alice Dagan Campbell maintained overall oversight and coordination of the Health Fair. Special acknowledgment is extended to Anne Laoyan, who took the initiative to assist with participant flow and on-site monitoring throughout the event.

👍Cultural Decor and Presentation👍

We extend our sincere appreciation to Tim Botengan and Christine Dagan for lending their Igorot baskets, statues, traditional woven textiles, and other cultural items for the Health Fair. The woven textiles were used as table runners, while the baskets, statues, and other pieces were displayed throughout the activity areas.

Their contribution helped create a warm, welcoming, and culturally grounded environment. The traditional decor connected the Health Fair to the broader spirit of IICXV. It demonstrated that promoting health and wellness can exist alongside - and be strengthened by - our culture, identity, and traditions.

👍Philippine Nurses Association of Southern California (PNASC) and Student Volunteers👍

Special recognition and appreciation are extended to PNASC and its leadership:
✅ Sasha Rarang - President, PNASC
✅ Diane Roque - Executive Director, PNASC
✅ Dorianne Tillano-Lebrette - Education Committee Chair, PNASC
✅ Roselyn Arciaga - Community Outreach Chair, PNASC
✅ Erickzen Alibadbad - Assistant Director of Nursing, Angeles University

Through their leadership and coordination of PNAS's Education and Community Outreach Committees, student volunteers from Angeles University and Aberdeen Institute participated in the Health Fair.

PNASC members also helped staff the Cancer Prevention and Awareness Table, providing attendees with health education, prevention information, and community resources.

The student volunteers provided essential support at the following stations and activity areas:
✅ Blood Pressure Screening
✅ Blood Glucose Screening
✅ BMI and Body-Composition Screening
✅ Mental Health and Wellness Table
✅ Cancer Prevention and Awareness Table
✅ Event setup and closeout
✅ General Health Fair Operations

Their participation was critical to maintaining adequate coverage throughout the event. The students helped ensure that the screening tables and other activity areas remained supported and accessible to attendees. We sincerely thank PNASC's leadership, committee chairs, members, and student volunteers for their professionalism, collaboration, flexibility, and commitment to community health education and service.

👍Nurse Volunteers and Health Screenings👍
✅ Lynne Laoyan
✅ Nancy Vargas
✅ Lillian Gramajo, RN
✅ Eunice Botengan Stapp
✅ Anne Laoyan
✅ Ely Bacayan
✅ Helen Alipio
✅ Roselyn Kigis
✅ Tyler Kigis
✅ Amy Ocab
✅ Ethel Uy
✅ Millie Roach
✅Joy Noe
✅ Beth Corbin
✅ Bertha Busacay

The nurses helped staff several of the most frequently visited screening areas, including:
✅ EKG and Heart Health
✅ Blood Pressure Screening
✅ Blood Glucose Screening

The health-screening tables were very well received. Many attendees were eager to learn their blood pressure and blood glucose results and were curious about what their numbers might mean for their overall health.

This interest created valuable opportunities for the nurses and student volunteers to provide basic health education, reinforce the importance of routine screenings, and encourage attendees to discuss abnormal or concerning results with their healthcare providers.

A dedicated team of nurse volunteers, including Ely Bacayan, staffed the EKG and Heart Health Table. This was one of the most popular stations and allowed attendees to receive an EKG screening and learn more about heart health, prevention, and the importance of appropriate medical follow-up.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the entire EKG nursing team, who worked continuously, often without a break, to perform screenings and accommodate as many attendees as possible. Their teamwork, stamina, and commitment ensured that the many participants waiting for this popular service were served efficiently and attentively.

The nurses also worked alongside the student volunteers at the Blood Pressure and Blood Glucose Screening Tables. Their clinical knowledge, supervision, and willingness to help ensured these stations remained organized, safe, and accessible.

Thank you to our nursing students and nurse volunteers for providing these invaluable screening services and for taking the time to educate, encourage, and support our attendees throughout the Health Fair.

👍Screening Results Review Booth👍

Special recognition is extended to nurse volunteer Nancy Vargas, who staffed the Screening Results Review Booth. She patiently discussed screening results with attendees, answered their questions, and encouraged appropriate follow-up with healthcare providers. Her calm and supportive approach made the review process informative and reassuring. She also helped manage the Passport Prize Redemption Table, where attendees who completed their Wellness Passports received their prizes, with assistance from the nursing students.

👍American Career College👍

Special recognition goes to American Career College for sponsoring and coordinating the BMI and Body-Composition Screening Table, supported by student volunteers from Aberdeen Institute and Angeles University.

We are also deeply grateful to American Career College for its generous sponsorship donation to IIC-XV. Its financial support, professional participation, and commitment to health education demonstrated a meaningful investment in the success of both the Community Health Fair and the broader IIC-XV gathering.

👍Care Access👍

We appreciate Care Access for providing comprehensive blood-draw services and making important laboratory screening opportunities available to attendees. Their team collected blood specimens for comprehensive laboratory testing, carefully guided participants through the process, and provided access to valuable health information that could support preventive care and appropriate follow-up with their healthcare providers.

👍My Sister, My Friend - Breast Cancer Support👍

We recognize My Sister, My Friend – Breast Cancer Support for providing breast cancer awareness, educational information, support, and community-resource referrals. This table was also very well received, with both women and men stopping to ask questions and receive valuable information about breast health, cancer awareness, prevention, available support, and community resources.

👍Pascual Psychiatric Services👍

We recognize Pascual Psychiatric Services for supporting the Mental Health and Wellness Table and providing mental health education and resources. Although Dr. Pascual did not deliver a formal scheduled presentation, he conducted an engaging table-side educational discussion on Mental Wellness and Brain Health.
The topic generated considerable interest and attracted many attendees who participated in the discussion, asked questions, and sought additional information. His presence made mental health education approachable and accessible, providing attendees with a comfortable opportunity to learn about emotional well-being, brain health, healthy aging, and the importance of seeking professional support when needed.

👍International Institute of Los Angeles - LIFE Program👍

We thank the International Institute of Los Angeles – LIFE Program for sharing important community programs, services, referrals, and resources with Health Fair attendees. Its participation highlighted a valuable community service that helps individuals and families connect with practical assistance, supportive programs, and resources that may otherwise be difficult to access.

👍CPR and Choking-Prevention Education👍

We recognize the following individuals for providing CPR and choking-prevention education:
✅ Eunice Botengan Stapp
✅ Hilda Longid Aquino

These interactive demonstrations provided practical and potentially lifesaving information. They emphasized how early recognition, prompt action, and basic CPR or choking-response skills can make a critical difference while waiting for emergency medical assistance.

👍Health Education Talks👍

We recognize Hilda Longid Aquino for facilitating the Health Education Talks and helping coordinate the speakers and presentation flow. We also extend our appreciation to the healthcare professionals who provided the scheduled presentations:
✅ Lynne Laoyan – Stroke Prevention and Awareness
✅ Lillian Gramajo, RN – Diabetes Management
✅ Hilda Longid Aquino – Heart Health

The talks allowed attendees to hear directly from healthcare professionals, ask questions, and receive practical information about disease prevention, early recognition of health concerns, nutrition, and healthier lifestyle choices. The presentations reinforced one of the Health Fair’s primary goals: empowering individuals and families with information they can use to make informed decisions and seek appropriate medical follow-up.

👍Screening Equipment, Supplies, and Educational Materials👍

We coordinated the equipment, supplies, and educational materials for the screenings, demonstrations, and activity tables, with additional support from our community partners.

We recognize Hilda Longid Aquino for providing the adult and infant CPR mannequins and the EKG machine. She also brought additional supplies needed for the Blood Pressure and Blood Glucose Screening Tables.

We are also grateful to the partners and supporters whose in-kind donations helped provide screening supplies, educational materials, demonstration equipment, giveaways, and other resources needed throughout the event.

These contributions ensured that healthcare professionals, students, and volunteers had the equipment and materials needed to provide organized and meaningful services to attendees.

👍Recharge Room👍

Special recognition is given to the individuals who supported the Recharge Room:
✅ Alexis Hernandez, Physical Therapist Aide - Passive Exercises and Stretching
✅ Monica Dagan, Professional Massage Therapist - She provided massage services and coordinated and provided the massage therapist as an in-kind contribution.

The Recharge Room provided attendees with a calm and welcoming space where they could step away from the activity of the Health Fair and focus on their physical and emotional well-being.

Alexis Hernandez guided attendees through passive exercises and stretching activities that encouraged gentle movement, flexibility, relaxation, and awareness of the importance of maintaining mobility. Thank you, Alexis, for your caring and unwavering commitment to physical fitness. Your encouragement helped make physical activity approachable, enjoyable, and meaningful for participants of varying abilities.

Attendees also had the opportunity to receive massage services from a professional massage therapist, arranged by Monica Dagan as a generous in-kind contribution. The Recharge Room became one of the most popular areas of the Health Fair, with many attendees willing to wait for the opportunity to participate. Their response demonstrated the importance of offering restorative wellness activities alongside traditional health screenings and education. Thank you, Monica, for arranging for a professional massage therapist and giving our attendees a much-appreciated opportunity to relax, recharge, and experience a moment of restorative self-care.

👍ONA Party Rental, LLC and the 360-Degree Photo Booth👍

Special recognition goes to Marco of ONA Party Rental, LLC for his generous in-kind contributions. Marco provided customized partition curtains that complemented the design of the individual activity areas while creating separation and privacy for the different health and wellness services being offered.

While attendees waited for their turn in the Recharge Room, many took advantage of the nearby 360-degree photo booth, also provided by Marco.

Attendees enjoyed taking photos and videos with friends and family using customized props designed to celebrate culture, community, wellness, and the joyful spirit of IIC-XV.
Marco personally operated the photo booth throughout the entire Health Fair. His participation turned the waiting period into an enjoyable, interactive experience.

Thank you, Marco, for helping make the Health Fair a memorable and joyful experience and for allowing attendees to create lasting memories with their families and friends.

👍The HT Store - Heather Dagan and Associates👍

We should recognize the HT Store, led by Heather Dagan and supported by her team, for their creativity and design work. They created the customized artwork and images used for the:
✅ Commemorative mugs
✅ Tote bags
✅ Volunteer shirts
✅ Water bottles

These customized items strengthened the Health Fair’s visual identity and provided meaningful keepsakes for volunteers, partners, and attendees.

👍Customized Giveaways and Educational Materials👍

Each table offered customized giveaways selected to complement and reinforce the screening, educational topic, or wellness activity presented at that station. Examples included:
✅ Wellness Passport Completion Gifts - Commemorative coffee mugs, customized water bottles, and first-aid kits
✅ Mental Health and Wellness - Stress balls imprinted with positive and encouraging messages
✅ Recharge Room - Lotion, stress balls, lip balm, and eye masks
✅ EKG, Heart Health, and Blood Pressure - Heart-shaped stress balls and pens
✅ Cancer Prevention and Awareness - Items featuring motivational cancer-awareness messages, along with pens, keychains, and lanyards.
✅ BMI, Body Composition, and Healthy Lifestyle - Healthy snacks reinforcing nutritious food choices

Community partners also contributed personalized giveaways from their organizations, adding variety to the items attendees received and further demonstrating their generosity and support for the Health Fair.

The giveaways were not simply promotional items. They served as practical reminders of the health information attendees received. Each table also offered educational materials, health-promotion information, and community-resource referrals related to its topic. These resources allowed attendees to continue learning, share information with their families, and follow up with appropriate healthcare or community services.

Special thanks to Esther Watson and Mildred Rader for coordinating, organizing, and packaging the giveaways with thoughtful attention to matching each item to the purpose and health message of its respective table.

👍In-Kind Contributions, Forms, and Table Signage👍

A big shout-out also goes to Esther Watson and Tiffany Taylor for their generous in-kind contributions toward the participant giveaways. We thank them for supporting the printing of the various forms required for registration and Health Fair operations, as well as the table signage. Their support helped ensure that the event was organized, welcoming, and professionally presented.

👍Medical and Nursing College👍

We are grateful to Medical and Nursing College for its generous monetary contribution toward providing lunch for the Health Fair volunteers. Providing lunch was an important part of supporting and thanking the many individuals who worked throughout the day. This contribution helped demonstrate our appreciation for their time, energy, and service.

👍Event Banners👍

We acknowledge Dale Basingat for his assistance and support with the Health Fair banners. The banners helped create a coordinated and welcoming environment while making the activities, participating organizations, and health messages clearly visible to attendees.

👍Event Setup and Closeout👍

A special thank-you is extended to everyone who helped with the set-up and closeout of the Health Fair, particularly:
✅ The student volunteers
✅ Jenny Rodriguez, American Career College
✅ Marco of ONA Party Rental, LLC
✅ Benjamin Galeled Stapp
✅ Esther Watson
✅ Mildred Rader
✅ Ty Campbell and family

👍Additional Partners and Supporters👍

We are also grateful to Montebello Health Center, ABA Works, Virginia R. Carreon & Co., and all other organizations and individuals who provided support, in-kind donations, professional services, supplies, referrals, or behind-the-scenes assistance.
We recognize all healthcare professionals, nurses, students, speakers, community volunteers, logistics personnel, and activity coordinators who contributed their time, expertise, and energy.

👍Closing Reflection👍

The strong turnout and positive response show how important it is to make preventive services, health education, wellness activities, and community resources accessible to our community.

By empowering attendees with information, connecting them with valuable resources, and encouraging preventive care and healthier choices, the IIC-XV Community Health Fair translated the theme of sustainability into meaningful action. This impact was further reflected in comments written in the Wellness Passports, where attendees described their commitments under “A Healthier Me” and shared meaningful takeaways from their Health Fair experience.

The Health Fair truly reflected the spirit of “Together for a Healthier Community”—strengthening our community today while helping build a healthier future for generations to come.
I'm grateful to every organization and individual who contributed their time, expertise, resources, and service to make this vision a successful, meaningful event.

Thank you again for helping ensure that everyone who contributed receives the acknowledgment they deserve.

With Sincere Appreciation,
Alice Dagan Campbell

Sharing a few photos from the Opening Day of the 15th Igorot International Consultation. We were blessed to have Edgar Perez, Gabrielino-Tongva Tribal member, welcome us to their ancestral land. Uncle Richard Stone Pooten led us in an Igorot prayer to bless the IIC.

With the help of Auntie Alice Dagan Campbell, she invited the Mayor of Montebello, Georgina Tamayo, and Deputy Consul General of the Los Angeles Philippine Consulate General, Maria Alnee A Gamble, to deliver welcoming words for a successful event.

After the Opening Ceremonies, our impressive and comprehensive Health Fair opened. Auntie Hilda Longid Aquino led the health talks delivered by local Igorot health care workers. Auntie Alice Dagan Campbell gathered well over 50 to 100 nursing students, medical professionals, and collegiate representatives to help conduct vital checks (BP check, EKG, blood sugar, BMI, etc) and educate as many IIC attendees to be more conscious of their health and wellness. This Health Fair was a full on conference of its own and operated so smoothly with the leadership of Auntie Alice Campbell and her colleagues who donated more than just their time and efforts. We are so grateful!

Thankful for all these beautiful faces who endured the hottest weekend in July to attend the 15th IIC. Here are some photos of the Gala Night attendees - nearly impossible to capture the over 650 folks who joined us but thankful for Ray Tamarra for capturing these moments!

Grateful for this gathering.
