Sickle cell disease (SCD), which causes
a wide range of severe and even life-
threatening consequences, is caused by a
single misspelling in the DNA instructions
for hemoglobin, a protein vital for carrying
oxygen in the blood. As a result of this
mutation, individuals with SCD experience

The '1st Annual Diamond Ray Edmundson Blood Drive For Sickle Cell Disease" was a Huge Success, not because we got the turn out that we wanted (we didn't) not because we reached the goal we set for donations, ( we didn't) not because everyone who said they would be there showed up, (they didn't) but be cause everyone who did show up, everyone who did donate, everyone who turned out, gave the greatest gift of all, Love!

Love to the Family of Diamond Ray, Love to the Patients of the Sickle Cell Disease Community, Love to me and to all who supported me!

This event was a Great Success because Love Showed Up & Showed Out!

Thank you Aujanea & Diamond's Nephew for letting us know how important it is to keep D-Rays' Voice alive! Thank you Dorian Archie, for doing exactly that! Thank you Dr Rowley for being a true Partner in this event, thank you Missy Williams for doing the work and being my encouragement, thank you Pastor E for being my Support team and bringing the talent, thank you Farron & Jody for bringing the message! Thank you Nita Thompson for being your persistently help self! (You are my shero)
Thank you Mark Riddly Thomas for being the friend of Willowbrook that you have always been, thank you Tracy & the Staff of Mona Park!

Blessings Everyone, as the day of the Blood Drive draws near, It is my hope that; 1) The California Sickle Cell Community will Show Up and Show Out for Diamond Ray! 2) That others in the Sickle Cell Community will see this as an example of how we can Celebrate the Lives of the Loved Ones we've lost with Joy & Purpose! 3) That as a Community we will take advantage of this day to Raise Awareness about the issues surrounding Patients who receive Chronic Transfusion Therapy & The need for Minority Blood Donation to help address many of those issues!
