Our Husky athletes will be participating in the 2024 Husky Olympics on April 12th! This exciting event will promote exercise and health, while bringing the community together for a day of fun and school spirit.

Each athlete has a personalized page to raise funds toward prizes and class competitions.

All money raised will support valuable arts, science and physical enrichment at Horace Mann. This includes:

The Wallis Artist Collective Dance Workshop - Professional dancers ignite creativity and movement in Horace Mann students via dance workshops.
POGA - Helps Huskies build strength while developing a mind-body connection.
STEM Programming - Hands-on opportunities for Huskies to explore science, technology, engineering and math.
Field Trips - Promote health and exercise and allow Horace Mann students to explore the world and learn, while staying active.
On-Campus Assemblies - Get Horace Mann students up and moving!
P.E. Programs - PTA-funded equipment and student incentives make P.E. fun!

When it comes to parenting it can sometimes feel like fathers are second best.
Depictions of dads in popular culture push the stereotype of fathers as incompetent, emotionally disconnected, “secondary” parents who are not nearly as important to their children as their mothers.

- “When a father is very present, this offers consistency and gives a child much-needed stability.”
Hardy continues,
- “Conversely, when a father is absent, the opposite effect occurs. Their ability to forge healthy relationships is impacted, and their subconscious beliefs about relationships are influenced in unhealthy ways.”

Curiosity drives children’s learning.
In fact, new research shows that the more curious children are, the better they do academically in reading and math once they enter school. While it may seem like curiosity is something you have or you don’t, the truth is that all children are curious — and there’s a lot that a singledad can do to nurture a child’s natural desire to explore and learn.

As a single dad, it must be overwhelming thinking about how you will raise your kids; after all, there is a saying, “It takes an entire village to raise a child, so how can one single man do it alone?”
Always remember that you are much braver than you previously thought and that you are someone to be looked up to and appreciated. 🙏🏼
