The Rescue Train The Rescue Train’s deep-rooted goals are to be a voice for animals and to help save as many lives as possible.

The Rescue Train is a unique, non-profit 501(c)(3) no-kill organization dedicated to eliminating animal suffering and euthanasia through hands-on rescue work, education and awareness. We fulfill our mission through our key initiatives: rescue and rehome, shelter intervention, dedication to spay and neuter, and collaboration with other like-minded organizations. We aim to drastically reduce the num

ber of animals entering kill shelters and animals living on the streets of Los Angeles. Many of our life-saving programs help lay a foundation of lasting change through community outreach and celebrate the human-animal bond. Our Shelter intervention Program and Pet Pantry prevent animals from entering Los Angeles City shelters by providing resources to low income, senior citizens, veterans and homeless pet owners. We offer free spay and neuter to help solve pet overpopulation at the root of the problem. Our Pet Care Clinics go into areas of poverty to provide resources that includes vaccines, grooming, referrals to vet care, pet food and supplies.

Five-month-old Butters was trapped by our MEOW-velous volunteer, Gail, in an industrial area and brought to our mobile Spay/Neuter Clinic to get fixed. This friendly little guy had nowhere to go afterward, which meant he would have to be released right back where he was found.

But then the stars aligned. ✨

Three Rescue Train volunteers came together at just the right moment. Gail rescued him from the streets. Laurie happened to be at the clinic with a kitten she had trapped. And Nicole was ready and willing to foster.

And just like that, Butters had a foster home and a ticket aboard The Rescue Train!

Sometimes rescue is all about the stars aligning and a few incredible people coming together and opening their heart and home.

Now Butters is safe and one step closer to the FURever home he deserves. Way to go ladies! 😻

🚨 URGENT - LOS ANGELES - SENSITIVE SOUL DOUG NEEDS AN ANIMAL ANGEL! 🚨🪽

Doug must exit North Central Animal Services by WEDNESDAY, 9/2 EOD or he will be euthanized the following morning.

Doug is a gentle, sensitive 4-year-old, 58-lb Husky mix who is deteriorating quickly in the shelter. He’s losing weight, suffering from stress-related diarrhea, and pacing so constantly that his paw pads are bleeding. 💔

Despite it all, Doug remains sweet, gentle and never defensive. He does well in playgroups and would thrive with patient, experienced hands and another dog or pack to help him feel safe.

This goofy, social pup loves fetch, couch snuggles and being part of the action. He’s vaccinated, microchipped, neutered and ready to find his person.

🔥 The heat was brutal. Our team was unstoppable. 🐾

Sloppy kisses and tail swishes to our incredible team for powering through one seriously HOT week! ☀️🥵

The temperatures were soaring in triple digits, but you knew there was work to be done and animals were counting on us. You showed up, pushed through and made sure the heat didn’t slow down our mission.

Because of you, 61 animals are now on their way to healthier, happier lives. Choo chooo!

Hats off to each and every one of you for beating the heat and BRINGING THE HEART! 🩷📣 A HUGE shoutout to Central Van Nuys for giving our recovering animals a cool, comfortable place to rest in the AC. We’re so grateful for your kindness and support!

A vet’s visit can feel overwhelming. Next time you have an appointment, cover the carrier so there’s not that much stimulation. This will make your cat feel more calm.

🐾 It’s and what better way to celebrate than helping Bandit find his FURever home! ❤️

Meet Bandit! This sweet 6-month-old boy was abandoned at a Studio City gas station but luckily, two Good Samaritans pulled in at just the right time. Their tank may have been on empty, but their hearts were full. ❤️

Now thriving in foster care, Bandit is housebroken, crate trained, dog-friendly, great with people and a fast learner who already knows sit, stay, wait, come, leave it and drop it! He’s even been cat-tested with no incidents.

This goofy, social pup loves fetch, couch snuggles and being part of the action. He’s vaccinated, microchipped and will be neutered before adoption.

Bandit’s stop at that gas station was just a pit stop on the road to a much better life. Now he needs his ride or die to give him the FURever home he deserves! 🐶🚗❤️
