Today the Senate Judiciary Committee will be hearing SB 435 (Senator Lena A. Gonzalez), the Latinx and Indigenous Disparities Reduction Act. This bill requires specified state agencies to collect anonymous demographic data of Latinos and Indigenous Californians and requires the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) to collect and tabulate data on important health-related outcomes to help address health inequities.

Hoy, el Comité Judicial del Senado escuchará SB 435 (Gonzalez), la Ley de Reducción de Disparidades Latinx e Indígenas. Esta ley requerirá agencias estatales especificadas, recolectar información demográfica anónima de Latinos y Californianos Indigenas y requerirá al Departamento de Salud Pública usar esta información para poder identificar soluciones para combatir la inequidad de salud.

Las protecciones de emergencia de salud pública por la pandemia del coronavirus llegaron a su fin el 31 de marzo. A partir del 1 de abril, beneficiarios de Medi-Cal recibirán cartas indicandoles que deberán actualizar su información para determinar si aún siguen siendo elegibles para recibir los beneficios de este seguro de salud. La vicepresidenta ejecutiva de Relaciones Gubernamentales e Involucramiento Cívico de AltaMed, Berenice Núñez Constant, habló con Univision 34 al respecto.

The COVID-19 Public Health Emergency protections for COVID-19 ended on March 31. Starting April 1, Medi-Cal beneficiaries will receive letters in the mail to update their information to determine if they are still eligible to continue receiving these benefits.
