CicLAvia is a free and recurring event that allows for the temporary closing of interconnected routes throughout the region, creating a web of public space in which Angelenos can walk, bike, exercise, socialize, celebrate, and explore new cultures and neighborhoods. Similar events occur in many other cities around the US like Portland, New York and San Francisco. The Bogóta ciclovía also has inspi

red programs in Mexico City, Guadalajara, Quito and Melbourne.

Understand CicLAvia’s Impact
CicLAvia is more than a day without cars. It’s a movement that reaffirms our identity as a city of neighborhoods, each with its own voice and history. Just like parks, libraries, and transit, open streets are essential to the fabric of our region.

Every time we open our streets, we are investing in people and community. We prioritize working with small businesses, local cultural partners, and civic organizations.

Every time we open our streets, we are investing in people and community. We prioritize working with small businesses, local cultural partners, and civic organizations.

Now is the time to support CicLAvia more than ever. We’ve hit a critical moment to ensure our funding. The recently proposed LA Mayor's Budget (FY27) includes meaningful support for open street events and our partner, LADOT.

The reality is that this is a proposed budget. But it’s not a final budget.

We need your voice now more than ever to maintain the City’s investment in CicLAvia.
Take Action between now and the end of May.

Big news for LA open streets
The proposed LA City Budget includes meaningful support for open street events, like CicLAvia Sundays, and dedicated resources for our vital partner, LADOT.

Why it matters
As a nonprofit organization, we depend on a combination of public funding and private support. The proposed City Budget represents a significant funding source for CicLAvia.
But here's the reality: this is not a final budget.

We need your voice now more than ever. Read more details and see the actions you can take on our blog: https://www.ciclavia.org/letter-from-exec-la-city-budget26

🚨How you can help secure CicLAvia funding. Take action between now and the end of May.

📧 Email or call your City Councilmember and urge them to protect full funding for open street events and LADOT in the FY27 budget.
✍️ Provide written public testimony or attend a meeting of the City Council Budget Committee to show support for open streets and LADOT in person.
🗣️ Share your CicLAvia story. Simply, post and tag your representatives and to show them what CicLAvia Sundays means to you, your family, and your neighborhood.
💬 Spread the word. Share these actions with your friends and family so they can use their voice too.

Rain or shine, CicLAvia goes on.

Clouds roll in, the sun comes out, the streets stay open, and we keep grooving together.

A little rain just adds to the adventure. See you out there.

👋 It's been a minute since we've been together. Let's have a little refresher.

CicLAvia provides an escape from motorized vehicles for the day and an opportunity to use active mobility. We want to keep it safe for everyone who participates.

A general rule of thumb for any vehicle is that if it is primarily powered by a person, it's allowed at CicLAvia. If it is solely powered by a motor*, it's not.

*Motorized wheelchairs, power wheelchairs, mobility scooters, and other mobility devices are allowed for participants with disabilities.

Have questions about e-bikes at CicLAvia? Read at ciclavia.org/rules_ebike

🗺️ We recommend previewing the route prior to event day.
This is a new CicLAvia Sunday route with gradual elevation change over the course of 3 miles, specifically between the Pit Stop and Westwood Hub.

Things to consider when hitting a hill
- Be mindful of others and your speed.
- Slower participants stay to the right.
- Politely pass to the left.
- If you're rolling, wear a helmet.

We encourage all participants to be aware of their surroundings and reach out to CicLAvia staff with questions or concerns. By working together, we can create a safe and enjoyable event for everyone.

A look back to our fun day in Melrose at Netflix x CicLAvia—Melrose Ave: Stranger Things 5 One Last Ride ☀️ Moments like these bring people together in ways that turn city streets into spaces for joy and connection.

CicLAvia brings more than good times to participants and communities. We help strengthen economic activity and increase visibility for local businesses long after the route closes.

“CicLAvia has made all the difference in the world to us. People are rediscovering the [Melrose Business District] area. They’re investing and want to be a part of this.”
— Kim Sudhalter, Marketing & Community Relations Director, Melrose Business Improvement District (March 12, 2026 CivSalon),
