On May 20th, the CORE Community Public Health Team (CPHT) hosted our 8th Community Advisory Board (CAB) Meeting at SPIRITT Family Services, bringing together 33 dedicated attendees committed to strengthening the SGV 🤝

Building on the momentum of our newly formed Food Insecurity Coalition, this meeting focused on deepening collaboration and identifying ways to turn community ideas into sustainable action 🌱

Through 5 multilingual roundtable discussions in English, Spanish, Mandarin, and Cantonese, community members shared feedback on future coalition priorities, including expanding culturally responsive food access efforts, strengthening partnerships with local organizations, and creating more opportunities for residents to stay engaged in community-led initiatives 🥕🍲

The meeting was filled with thoughtful conversations, new connections, and a shared commitment to supporting the health and wellbeing of SGV communities🌻

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who attended and contributed their ideas and experiences Your participation continues to drive this work forward, and we look forward to growing this coalition together 💛

On Saturday, April 4th, the ECHO-SGV Community Convening brought together 100 community members at the Rosemead Community Recreation Center for a day centered on connection, support, and learning.

We were honored to hear from Rosemead Mayor Sandra Armenta and El Monte Councilmember Dr. Julia Ruedas who shared encouraging words about the importance of community health and working together to support local families.

The event created a warm and welcoming space where individuals and families could access helpful resources and services. Community members enjoyed free health screenings, connected with local organizations, picked up groceries, and joined interactive nutrition workshops offered in both English and Mandarin. More importantly, it was inspiring to see so many people actively participating, asking questions, sharing experiences, and building connections with one another and with service providers.
We would also like to give a special thank you to Heart of Compassion for generously donating groceries, helping ensure that families left the event with meaningful, tangible support.

Events like this remind us of how powerful communities can be. By coming together, we continue to strengthen support systems, improve access to care, and uplift the well-being of our neighborhoods across the San Gabriel Valley.

April is Autism Acceptance Month 💙

Last month was about more than awareness—it’s about acceptance, inclusion, and meaningful support for autistic individuals and their families.
Autism Acceptance Month reminds us to move beyond simply recognizing autism and instead create communities where autistic people feel respected, supported, and included every day.
We can all help build a more inclusive world by listening, learning, and making space for different ways of thinking, communicating, and experiencing the world.

Every person deserves to feel accepted. Every voice deserves to be heard. 💙
