Congratulations to 2025 Granum Prize shortlister Arah Ko, whose chapbook, ANIMAL LOGIC, released this week from Bull City Press!

Mia Ayumi Malhotra, author of MOTHERSALT, said, "Probing the wilds of human cruelty and family history, Ko confronts the leavings of her own past, saying, ‘it will take time to chew // through what’s left of me.’ An exaltation, a shiver, a murder, a bloom—this collection of poems enacts every one of these terms, and so much more.”

The Granum Foundation is excited to partner with EastOver Press to offer "Reinventing Our Prose," a workshop led by Davin Malasarn and K-Ming Chang in conjunction with the publication of Davin's novel THE OUTER COUNTRY (May 2026, One World / Random House).

Stories do more than convey information. They offer a glimpse into a writer’s view of the world and the vastness of their imagination. In this class, we’ll discuss writing that has transformed the ordinary into the unexpected. Through generative exercises, we’ll explore ways to “cast a spell” on our own writing to create original prose and to capture the attention of our readers.

Pre-order THE OUTER COUNTRY from Skylight Books at tinyurl.com/v8khhmrp by May 1 and be enrolled in the workshop for free.

Plus, five participants will be selected at random to receive feedback from Davin on a 20-page prose sample.

We hope you'll join us!
