The Youth Empowerment Peace Program (YEPP!) is a character development and artistic enrichment middle and high school program which empowers students to express creatively, promote peace in the community, and develop as leaders. The Youth Empowerment Peace Program facilitates urban youth to channel their energy into healthy, constructive, and positive creative outlets and away from violent, self-d

estructive, and harmful ones. is educationally beneficial and develops students in their motivation to achieve academically within school, towards graduation, and as healthy individuals and community leaders. Talent Competition begins each semester at a high school with semi-monthly YouTube televised talent competitions in which three students compete in various talent categories. Categories include singing, dancing, comedy, instrument performance, acting, band performance, rapping, poetry, teacher talent, and whatever other talents for which students are a request. Student popular vote determines which students move on to the semi-annual Talent Shows in December and June at the end of the semester. Talent Shows give students the opportunity to perform LIVE and compete for prizes. The Second Semi-Annual CRAHS #5 YEPP! Talent Show was hosted at College Ready Academy High School #5 on Friday, December 16th, 2011. The 40 or so students who performed did an incredible job, and there were approximately 600 students and staff of CRAHS #5 in attendance! This event was professionally filmed and is in production to be made into a documentary by TamirFilms www.tamirfilms.com in early 2012. Talent Shows include professional guest speakers and professional music, dance, and performing artists with empowering messages to the youth of Los Angeles within public schools. Through our partnership with the Hip Hop School of Arts (HHSA) and its Founder/Director Julio “Lil’ Cesar” Rivas, YEPP! is able to bring the world of Hip Hop to our events, as well as students on field trips to the HHSA! also brings educational and inspirational speakers to our students such as 2009 Ethiopian National Green Hero Gashaw A. Tahir’s organization planted over 1,000,000 trees in Ethiopia, and he is the founder of Greenland Development Foundation (GDF). Tahir inspires and educates us all to the power we personally have to make a real impact towards reversing global climate change, soil erosion, and deforestation through committed action, community organization, and sustainable life choices. also, through our sister company Ascension Education, is committed to bringing Landmark Education to public education through empowering high school students and teachers to complete the Landmark Forum. Our first high school student completed the Landmark Forum on a full donated scholarship from October 21-25, 2011. His Holiness’ Message for the New Year - 2024

On the occasion of the New Year, I would like to thank everyone who has sent me good wishes, and I offer my greetings to you all, brothers and sisters across the world.

Despite the many challenges that we are facing today, I feel optimistic that with a growing appreciation of how interconnected we all are in the oneness of humanity, we can all work to lead more meaningful lives and create a better world.

As human beings we share a common wish to be happy and free from pain. We are social animals who depend on others to survive. Therefore, as I often say, we should work for the benefit of others. If we cannot help them, we should at least make sure we do no harm. I have found that helping others is the best way of ensuring happiness and calm for ourselves.

I also firmly believe that we can find peace in the world only when we find peace within. Every human being has the potential to cultivate inner peace, and by so doing to contribute to the peace of our global community.

We must try to cultivate compassion and inner peace, regardless of our nationality or religion, we can contribute to the well-being and happiness of all mankind. If the last century was the century of violence, it is our responsibility to make this century the century of dialogue.

Once again, I extend warm greetings to you all. I hope that you all enjoy an auspicious beginning to the new year, 2024.

With prayers and good wishes,

Dalai Lama

“No daylight to separate us.

Only kinship. Inching ourselves closer to creating a community of kinship such that God might recognize it. Soon we imagine, with God, this circle of compassion. Then we imagine no one standing outside of that circle, moving ourselves closer to the margins so that the margins themselves will be erased. We stand there with those whose dignity has been denied. We locate ourselves with the poor and the powerless and the voiceless. At the edges, we join the easily despised and the readily left out. We stand with the demonized so that the demonizing will stop. We situate ourselves right next to the disposable so that the day will come when we stop throwing people away.”
