🎧 Listen to Abolitionist Sanctuary’s Program Director, Jasmine Gatlin, share about our first Abolition Tree (which is our version of the Angel Tree)!

🎄Abolition Tree is an initiative to sponsor families and to help wishes come true, not just on Christmas, but each day that we hope for freedom futures beyond poverty, punishment, policing, and prisons.

🙌🏽 This year, we partnered with ✨Susan Burton and A New Way of Life✨ to sponsor four Black mothers who are formerly incarcerated and their children.

💜 We established life-generating relationships with families overcoming death-dealing conditions by sharing in their struggle, amplifying their stories, and spreading love, peace, joy, and hope during the Advent season.

🙏🏽 Abolition Tree is more than material manifestations but it is also a meaningful ministry.

We did not just give but we received.
We listened.
We held space.
We celebrated.
We prayed.
We learned.

✝️ God honors a mustard seed faith and does plenty with the harvest. With the little we were able to offer, we made a tremendous impact — mothers shared their renewed sense of worth. They were encouraged to go to the family function because now they could give their children the gift of presents and presence with pride and dignity. They were encouraged to not give up, to believe better is possible because they were reminded that they were not alone.

🎯 Help turn our little into more. Today we sponsored 4 families, next year we could sponsor 40 of 400 families!
