Today is the day we take down the crops on our farm! Here’s a little sneak peak 🤭👁️👀

We’re happy, we’re sad, we’re excited, and all of the above 🌱

August 15th, 22nd, and 29th we’ll be moving our tools and materials to our new farm, and we need your help! Join us for our U-Haul days 🚛 Bring a truck if you can, but it’s not required! If you have a hand to lend, come on over!

Sending many flowers to Rachel Black for her service and leadership on the Black Thumb Farm board since 2020! For the past 6 years, she has been instrumental in building out board infrastructure and processes, facilitating our board meetings, helping to build out our Board’s fundraising and governance committees, and recruiting and onboarding new board members.

Her support has been pivotal for our leadership team and the growth of this organization.

We’re so grateful for Rachel’s collaborative spirit, hard work in building out practices and systems that can sustain change, and her commitment to Black Thumb Farm’s success. We look forward to continuing to be in relationship with Rachel, and we encourage you to follow her work at the Garden School Foundation

For the last 5 weeks, our Youth in Bloom teens have been growing and serving up sustainably grown, organic produce + flowers for our community 💐 Thank you for showing up and supporting their mentorship, leadership, and life skills along the way.

Tomorrow, Saturday August 8th is our last Farm Stand of the season and our final one at Cottonwood Urban Farm before we move to Mission Hills. Come by one last time.

Expect stone fruit, salad mix, onions, cilantro, tea blends, peppers, cups of blooms + more.

We’re also excited to host Sunland Collective (ceramics by donation). CASH ONLY | 9am–12pm ℹ️ Sunland Collective is a small group of ceramic artists who love to play with mud in the Valley. They are grounded in the simple truth that everyone is an artist and we all need beauty in our lives.

We found an amaranth flower that closely resembles the Rose Gold Breeding Mix Erin Benzakein - Floret is growing on their farm as they trial different varieties of amaranth! What a coincidence!

This is from an Okite variety, but she’s slowly changing over time as we continue to save seed and plant season after season 💐

Our Farm Stand on August 1st is the LAST chance to tour the space before we terminate ALL the crops. Come through, bring a friend, and show love while you still can.

🍑 In addition to our classic cups of blooms, herbs, tea blends, and veggies, we’ll also have salad mixes, plumcots, peaches, and more delicious fruits to offer this weekend and next.

📣 Stop by our Farm Stand tomorrow, July 25th! We are halfway through our summer Farm Stand season and there are only 3 Saturdays left (July 25, August 1, and August 8) to stop by and shop local produce, flowers, and other goods.

We have gorgeous cups of blooms, herbs, tea blends, eggplant, peppers, and more! Everything is fresh and grown right here in your neighborhood.

Halfway through our Farm Stand also means we are halfway through Youth in Bloom! Each weekend our youth participate in farm & life skills lessons that help them grow as leaders and environmental stewards in our community. By shopping at our Farm Stand, you directly support these amazing young folks!
