Announcing our next Community Workshop: Soul Play!
We are excited to welcome Flo who will be facilitating this fun, playful event! This will be a playground where we will connect deeper with ourselves through our breath, bodies, sound, movement and play! Guided through Floetry (storytelling poetry) and music, participants will learn accessible body-based energy healing practices to transmute stress, trauma and stagnation into expression and aliveness. Soul Play is a session for exploration, healing, deeper self connection and tapping in with your life force.

They will be facilitating a Crip Writers Collective workshop where they will offer participants five q***r, crip, Mad strategies for writing inspired by Sins Invalid’s 10 Principles of Disability Justice. Join us later this month for Domestic Violence & Disability. Attendees will learn about the dynamics of domestic violence in the disability community, risk and protective factors, and services available to disabled survivors. Participants will also create an individualized safety plan for themselves or a loved one.

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR

Tiernan is a q***r, neuroexpansive, survivor, and educator with over 10 years of experience in domestic and sexual violence prevention. She is a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), a domestic violence counselor advocate in the state of CA, and has her MPH in Health Education & Communication. For the past four years she has been the Outreach & Education Program Manager for a domestic violence service agency in Los Angeles, during which she has facilitated hundreds of workshops on domestic violence dynamics and prevention for survivors, teens, community members, and service providers of all ages.

📖Join the Los Angeles Spoonie Collective for our Crip Reads Book Club in October as we discuss Year of the Tiger by Alice Wong.

This book features a “collection of original essays, previously published work, conversations, graphics, photos, commissioned art by disabled and Asian American artists, and more, Alice uses her unique talent to share an impressionistic scrapbook of her life as an Asian American disabled activist, community organizer, media maker, and dreamer. ” -Moon Palace Books

We’ll be sourcing all physical copies of the books from Nightlight Books, a co-operatively run Disability-centered book store in Cleveland, OH. Our audiobooks will be sourced from Get Lit Books, a Black woman-owned bookstore in Moreno Valley curating books for q***rs, women, and BIPOC.
