ABOUT JANELLE
Janelle Rivas is an 18-year-old Latina artist based in LA who hopes to pursue photography professionally in the future. Janelle uses photography as a tool to navigate the process of connecting with her femininity. While implementing themes from her culture, she uses herself, her environment, and her friends and family as subjects. Janelle uses creative modes of expression to create a safe space in which she is able to navigate certain complex emotions that might not be easy to put into words.

This summer I had the privilege of fulfilling the role as the communications and marketing intern at LFP🥹 Where I’m so grateful for every experience, learning opportunity, and people I met throughout my journey who gave me the chance to grow my confidence and express my creativity while creating the best memories! 📸 Although I’m so sad that my time as an intern has come to an end, I will hold Las Fotos project in my heart forever

It’s true 😭😭😭😭😭😭

Late last month, we said goodbye to three pivotal LFP staff members as they embarked on their next chapters beyond their roles at LFP.

Maria, Diego, and Fabi have each been with LFP for more than five years. All three began their journeys through our free programming before transitioning into staff roles. Their passion, care, and energy are unmatched. It’s with heavy hearts that we’re saying goodbye to what feels like a piece of our space, but we’re also incredibly proud and excited for their next era.

They are a testament to everything we believe in and encourage our students to pursue, following their creative careers and pouring into their own cups. WE KNOW THAT’S RIGHT.

Maria, Fabi, and Diego, we love you all so much. Thank you for the lasting impact you’ve made at Las Fotos Project. This space will always be yours. DO YOUR BIG ONE! We can’t wait to see everything you create.

Everyone, go check out their beautiful portfolios and consider bringing them onto your projects. We truly can’t say enough about their talent, dedication, and work ethic.

Thinking of You
“Growing up I was always told stories of my grandpa from family members and how he loved and spoiled me in the short time we had together. Moving to East LA, I felt closer to these shared memories knowing I was walking the same sidewalks he grew up in. Thinking of him, I photographed an alley behind the first apartment I lived in East LA, and overlapped a baby photo of me and my grandpa using double exposure.”

ABOUT THE ARTIST
My name is Kelsey Becerra. I am an Afro-Indigenous artist based in East Los Angeles, California. Art is my first love, and exploring various mediums has always been a favorite pastime. Inspired by the city of Los Angeles and the visible passion of community and art, I find particular joy in exploring themes of beauty, culture, and community through photography.
