We’re been selfish and keeping y’all from our most recent culmination exhibitions projects. Here’s a look inside Digital Promotoras: Change Makers part of our RAISED IN LA Spring 2026 exhibition.

“My mom immigrated from Nicaragua at age five, a journey that took four years to complete. Arriving in Los Angeles, she learned a new language and adapted to a new home. She found comfort in the kitchen beside her mother, recreating traditional Nicaraguan dishes, and that passion grew into a career. After having twins, she attended Le Cordon Bleu at night, inspired to recreate those memories with her daughters while serving her community through food and care.”

Isa Hernandez is a 16 year old Nicaraguan and Salvadorian American. Through LFP she discovered that art is truly in everything you see. Being Latina has always been a source of pride for her, especially since starting high school where most of her classmates were outside of her culture. Latin representation has been more important than ever. She goes to an all girls school in La Canada called Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy, where she fell in love with ceramics. She mostly takes pictures of her main art medium, ceramics. She loves making food, cooking with her mom, and traveling. One day she hopes to move out of the US to Europe and follow her mom’s footsteps in becoming a chef

We’re honored to announce our newest exhibition, “Botas De Charro” , a solo show by artist, activist, and musician Josefina Guadalupe Chavez.

Opening OCTOBER 11th from 2pm-4:30pm. Live performances from Mariachi Alta California and Mariachi Revolución.

Botas De Charro explores the mariachi community in Los Angeles through cultural identity, tradition, and belonging. Drawing from her experience as a mariachi violinist and vocalist, Josefina Guadalupe Chavez photographs musicians who have shaped her artistic formation across classroom settings, rehearsals, backyard celebrations, and concert stages. The project honors a community that sustains tradition across borders and gestures toward its continued evolution within the fabric of Los Angeles. Mariachi emerges as both inheritance and act of becoming—a space where memory is held, identity is performed, and belonging is continuously shaped.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Josefina Guadalupe Chavez (b. 2006, Los Angeles, CA) is a Mexican American lens-based artist working primarily in portraiture. Raised in Los Angeles, Chavez is informed by her experience growing up between cultures and considers how the primary driving force behind her work is the Mexican American community of Los Angeles. Members of the community, while hardworking and resilient, create spaces of belonging and home even while far from their native lands.
Her work serves as a living archive of the community that has raised her. Photography is a way for Chavez to build a living record of a culture she actively participates in and keeps alive from the inside. She documents her community because she belongs to it.

Chicano Camera Culture Closes September 6, THIS SUNDAY at The Cheech Museum. Take a time travel into Chicano lens-based image-making from the last 60 years.

LFP had the opportunity to view “Chicano Camera Culture: A Photographic History, 1966 to 2026” late last month and it was magical. We left feeling inspired, seen, uplifted, and ambitious. Our stories are beautiful and deserve recognition in art spaces.

Curated by Elizabeth Ferrer and featuring some of our favorite photographers like; arlene mejorado, Thalía, Star Montana, Louis Carlos Berna, Laura Aguilar, and William Camargo 🇵🇸 to name a few.

A special thank you to Jen Kanter and Lisa Henry for having us over and exposing our community to The Cheech.
