BTS - pics from SCFU events over the summer with our Founders and Executive Council members.

🔸In partnership with I Will Vote we hosted a voter education town hall with SCFU Executive Council members Chris Paul and CJ McCollum, and Vice President Kamala Harris, focusing on the state of the Black male vote in the U.S. 

🔸We hosted another town hall with I Will Vote focused on the state of women’s rights in the U.S. with SCFU Executive Council members Candace Parker and Natasha Cloud, and Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett and host Ros Gold-Onwude.

🔸We also put on our first-ever Charity Blackjack Tournament held at Resorts World Las Vegas, an engaging evening to raise funds for SCFU initiatives.

🔸And, we got the whole team together for our annual SCFU Village Summit to discuss our goals and initiatives for the coming year.

Five talented young entrepreneurs, ages 14-18, pitched their business ideas at Pitch Black by , and over $20K in seed funding and resources was awarded. Congrats to VieYou, Embroidery by Bel, Hazardous Apparel, Purely U, Operation Young Santa, Chanel The Stylist, and WeGotShoez!

1st Place $7,500 Elijah Casselle, - An online shoe store dedicated to refurbishing used sneakers to like-new condition.They combine affordability with quality to make high-end footwear accessible to everyone.

2nd Place $5,000 Dereon Pyles, Santa - A nonprofit providing the unhoused with summer and winter essentials, food and care packages.

3rd Place $3,000 Kyrah Ousley, .stylist - A hair company specializing in braids run by a young entrepreneur on the south side of Chicago.

Virtual Pitch Winner $750 Sofia Smith, SCS Swim - Eco-friendly swimsuit brand that celebrates diversity and contributes to ocean preservation.

We are committed to empowering the next generation of leaders and entrepreneurs. So, we teamed up as sponsor of ’s Pitch Black event, celebrating innovation, entrepreneurship and community. We are proud of the Incredible young talent who presented their business ideas, and those who were featured in the Black Entrepreneur Market filled with products and services. Five entrepreneurs were awarded with seed funding and wrap around resources to build and develop their businesses. We can’t wait to see where these young entrepreneurs take their business.
