WE DID IT! 🎉 Our first official RAMPD x Recording Academy/GRAMMYs® DisCo House celebrating Disability Pride Month, and it was pure magic. 💫

Hosted at the Recording Academy New York Chapter Townhouse, the room was filled with artists, executives, producers, educators, GRAMMYs® winners, Recording Academy leaders, and RAMPD Network members coming together to celebrate community, creativity, and musical excellence.

We were honored by performances from 4 Wheel City and from Lachi with Matthew Whitaker, Chelsea O'Donnell, and Charu from Lachi's album "Magnificent", inspiring words from Recording Academy's DREAM team and RAMPD Network leadership, and our Interim Executive Director Terra Lopez's first official remarks.

Between the Getty photos, labeled bites, cocktails and mocktails, canes, and wheelchairs, spontaneous music circle erupted, strangers became collaborators, conversations became partnerships, friendships blossomed, ASL flowed, laughter echoed, and everyone had space to simply be themselves.

This is what Disability Pride looks like, what community sounds like, and what access creates.

Thank you to our incredible partners at the Recording Academy for four years of growing together. Here's to the first of many DisCo Houses. 🩷

Join us in Welcoming RAMPD’s New Internim Executive Director! Welcome Terra!! 🎉

Terra Lopez is serving as Interim ED at RAMPD where she focuses on expanding accessibility, strengthening partnerships, and creating opportunities for music professionals with disabilities across the industry.

Terra Lopez is an artist, musician, and music industry professional with over 15 years of experience spanning artist development, publicity, marketing, partnerships, and nonprofit leadership. As the founder and frontperson of Rituals of Mine, Lopez has toured internationally and released music through Warner Bros. Records and Carpark.

In addition to her work as an artist, Lopez previously served as Head of Marketing and Director of Artist Partnerships at Backline, a nonprofit connecting music industry professionals and their families with mental health and wellness resources, where she led national awareness campaigns, strategic partnerships, and community initiatives.

“I’m honored to join RAMPD as its new Interim Executive Director. As both an artist and music industry professional, I’ve seen firsthand the importance of creating spaces where everyone can fully participate and thrive. RAMPD is leading the change by amplifying Disability culture and creating a more innovative music industry for all. Celebrating June‘s RAMPD Pro Member Highlight - Meet Alexia! 🎉

Alexia McLean (she/her) is an award-winning classical saxophonist, music educator, arts administrator, and disabled musician-advocate whose work centers on equity, accessibility, and expanding representation in the music field. She is a D’Addario Woodwinds Performing Artist and Key Leaves Performing Artist. Her career has included performances, clinics, masterclasses, and presentations across the United States focused on musicianship, career development, and inclusion in the arts. Alexia currently teaches music in Texas and serves in leadership roles with the North American Saxophone Alliance’s Committee on Gender Equity and New Works Project. As a disabled artist navigating chronic pain, mobility changes, and the ongoing reimagining of what a music career can look like, she is passionate about creating more honest conversations around disability in music and helping build an industry where disabled artists are visible, valued, and supported.

Celebrating May’s Pro Member highlight, Zak! 🎶

Songwriter, Actor, TED Talk Speaker, and Broadway Piano Performer, Zak Sandler is a neurodivergent musical theater writer that is very involved in the mental health community. Specifically, he has written several musicals that are based on his journey with bipolar, and is hosting a podcast, “Insanely Talented”, that highlights the link between mental health conditions, neurodivergence, and creativity.

Zak is undoubtably a Powerhouse Artist who is making WAVES in. The Mudic Industry!

Andrew is the Creative Director of UnMute, double bassist in Thrill Collins and autistic. He has worked for over 30 years in cross sector roles currently with Attitude is Everything, as a researcher for Music Futures, and as a consultant in access and innovation for world class events such as Cheltenham Festivals and Glastonbury. He is director of the Access To Music Conference, vice-chair of the Musicians’ Union Members’ Assembly, a member of the Ivors Jazz Council, a Youth Music trustee and runs his own neurodivergent consultancy “The Very Good Solutions Company”
