Last weekend, one of our recent Classical Californians, Hunter Noack brought his piano to Griffith Park for an amazing performance beneath the Hollywood Sign taking classical music beyond the concert hall and into one of LA’s most iconic landscapes. 🎶🌴

Sunday evening at Walt Disney Concert Hall was a beautiful, moving tribute to our friend and colleague, Matt Miles.

The Los Angeles Master Chorale’s performance of Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem gave us a place to gather, to remember Matt, to hold close the people who loved him, and to experience the extraordinary comfort and connection that music can bring.

There was grief, of course. But there was also so much of what Matt gave to the people around him: joy, warmth, generosity, optimism, and love.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, to the Los Angeles Master Chorale for dedicating this performance to Matt, and to everyone who helped make the evening such a meaningful celebration of his life.

We honor Matt when we choose joy.
We honor Matt when we hold one another close.
And we honor Matt when we keep the music going.

Happy Dolly Day from Classical California! 💅🎶

Today, 9/25, we’re celebrating Dolly Parton and the woman who proved that even your nails can be an instrument.

In this clip, Dolly sings “9 to 5” while tapping out the rhythm with her acrylic nails. A reminder that great music can come from just about anywhere… and that sometimes the best percussion section is already at your fingertips.

From classical to country and everything in between, we’re here for the joy of music. 🫶
