Exploring a career in law can feel overwhelming, but hearing directly from professionals makes the path feel much more possible.

Fulfillment Fund alum and Programs Committee member Isela Barrios recently organized and hosted college students and recent graduates at Hadsell Stormer Renick & Dai LLP, a civil rights and employment law firm, for an inside look at educational and career pathways in the legal field.

Isela was joined by her colleagues Julia Ayala, Denise Ballesteros, Sarah Cayer, and Dani Gies, who spoke openly about their undergraduate experiences, preparing for the LSAT and Bar Exam, applying to law school, and navigating the job search after graduation.

We are incredibly grateful to Isela for bringing this opportunity to life and to the entire team for their honesty and willingness to answer our students’ questions.

An alumna of the University of California San Diego, Livingston currently serves as Chief Program Officer at Fulfillment Fund. Her experience as an educator and college counselor drives her commitment to helping students achieve their educational and career goals.

Her favorite part of being an NCAN member? Connecting with other practitioners and being part of a network community dedicated to expanding college access and success.

Last Friday, our team wrapped up our Summer of Wellness with an all-day staff retreat at the Annenberg Community Beach House focused on connection, team building, and what it takes to sustain a high-performing team. From collaborative group workshops to a competitive game of Lotería and beach walks during lunch, we stepped away from our computers to spend time together, reconnect with one another, and reflect on our shared mission.

A highlight of the day was a session led by Dr. Nicole Yeldell Butts on “One Team, One Dream” and the characteristics of high-performing teams. Thank you, Dr. Nicole, for guiding us on how building each other up can, in turn, positively impact how we show up for our students.

As summer winds down, we’re closing out our Caps Off, Future On! campaign with so much to celebrate.

This summer, we had the opportunity to spotlight members of our Class of 2026 and share what comes next for these recent graduates as they begin college, continue their education, or prepare to enter the workforce. We loved celebrating their accomplishments while giving our community a closer look at the many paths students take after high school.

Thank you to everyone who followed along, shared their stories, and supported Fulfillment Fund this summer. Whether through a donation, a social share, or simply cheering our graduates on, your support helps us continue meeting students where they are throughout their higher education journey.

The caps may be off, but their futures are just getting started. And there’s a whole new class of students ready to take the next step. ❤️

Last week, our UCLA Class of 2026 Student Ambassadors joined our College Access team to welcome and train our incoming Student Ambassadors! Students heard firsthand what to expect in the year ahead, participated in panels, played a few fun games and connected at our Downtown LA office. We’re getting our students ready for everything this academic year has in store!
