Hey everyone!

I’m the Social Media Officer of the UCLA JKD club and would like to use this post to share what our organization is about, and talk a bit about the origins of Jeet Kune Do.

Jeet Kune Do is the Cantonese pronunciation of 截拳道（Jie Quan Dao), which translates to “the way of the intercepting fist”. Pioneered by Bruce Lee, this revolutionary martial art's fighting philosophy integrates the practical aspects of martial arts to real-life combat. Core principles revolve around Chinese Martial Arts (i.e. Kung Fu) as well as Western fighting styles (i.e. boxing) and Southeast Asian martial arts (i.e. Muay Thai).

UCLA JKD is a campus club that aims to fulfill Bruce Lee's goal of spreading the art of self-expression to as many Bruins as possible as well as the local Los Angeles community. With direct discipleship from the Inosanto Academy, UCLA JKD is one of the few places in the world to learn genuine Jeet Kune Do, passed down using Bruce Lee’s vision and lineage.
