ACPB believes that by educating about, advocating for, and celebrating pit bulls, we can help promote positive public opinion of this breed, decrease the high level of euthanasia happening in our overcrowded shelters (where way too many good dogs are dying due to space constraints!) and increase adoptions of pit bulls into stable, loving homes. We face an uphill battle with many states enacting BS

L and breed bans, but we will never give up. These wonderful dogs need our help, and we are proud to lend our voice to this cause we care so deeply about. 💙 GRANDPA GUS HAS A LITTLE PEP IN HIS STEP! 💙
Meet Grandpa Gus, a 15-year-old gentleman who joined us from the Harbor shelter at the end of June.
At his age, and with arthritis making the shelter environment especially scary and painful, Gus was given a deadline to find a way out. Luckily, a very special foster opened their home to him—and they specifically wanted to foster a senior. 🥹
And we’re so glad they did.
With Grandpa Gus, we’re looking at things a little differently. There are senior dogs, and then there are senior hospice dogs. At 15 years old, we know we’re not going to put Gus through major surgeries or invasive procedures. Our goal is simple: keep him comfortable, keep him happy, and let him enjoy his golden years surrounded by love. ❤️
But if you look at these photos and videos, you’ll see something pretty special…
Grandpa Gus still has some pep in his step! 🥰
He may be 15, but he’s still got plenty of personality and plenty of life to enjoy.
Gus is also a reminder of why having the right foster homes ready matters so much. Right now, we’re working to build our foster pool at both ends of the spectrum.
🍼 We need bottle baby fosters who can jump in when those tiny, vulnerable puppies and kittens need help right now.
🛏️ And we need more amazing people willing to open their homes to senior and hospice dogs like Grandpa Gus—dogs who deserve to spend their final chapters feeling safe, comfortable, and deeply loved.
You don’t have to be a superhero to foster. Sometimes, you just need a spare room, a soft bed, and a little room in your heart. ❤️

Peanut grew that mustache fast! In fact, he’s only been in foster a few weeks and grown a lot. Our pittens only need temporary foster homes for 1-4 weeks, so time flies when you are fostering and having fun. We provide all the supplies, you just need to provide the love and space (and mustache growing support).

💗 MEET MEI MEI — A GOLDEN RETRIEVER TRAPPED IN A PUG BODY! 💗
Two-year-old Mei Mei is a tiny package with a BIG personality—and an even bigger heart. This sweet girl genuinely believes everyone she meets wants to be her best friend. Dogs? Friends. People? BEST FRIENDS. Runners? Obviously friends. Even the neighborhood old ladies? She’d really like to meet them. 😂
Her foster says Mei Mei is incredibly loving, kissy, wiggly, and affectionate. She loves her people and wants to be wherever they are. She’s also playful and knows sit, stay, off, and leave it, and she’s learning how to settle and ask politely for attention.
At home, Mei Mei enjoys walks, tug-of-war, chewing on her favorite bully sticks, wrestling with her stuffies, and curling up for a good nap. She sleeps peacefully in her crate overnight and is getting better every day at relaxing when she’s asked to.
She’s also a fantastic car companion—she climbs in, settles down, and promptly falls asleep. 😂
Mei Mei has lived with older kids and has done well with them, although she’s an exuberant girl who sometimes forgets how big her enthusiasm can be. She’s also lived with adult cats, but because she gets VERY excited around them, her foster feels she’d do best with no kittens and with cats who have their own safe space.
The biggest thing Mei Mei is working on? Her excitement on leash. When she spots another dog, a runner, or someone interesting, she REALLY wants to say hello. Her intentions aren’t mean—quite the opposite. She simply has a serious case of “OMG, WE COULD BE FRIENDS!” But she’s looking for a family who will be patient with her and continue helping her learn that she doesn’t have to greet everyone she sees.
She’s a medium-energy girl who would love an active family that enjoys getting out for walks, but who also appreciates a good cuddle session afterward.
Mei Mei is ready to find the people who will love her enthusiastic little soul as much as her foster does. 🥹💕

Have you ever known a stellar mom who does everything to make sure their babies turn out to be lovely well adjust adults?! We have, and they are tons of momma pups who need a place to crash while they help their babies grow up to be sweet adorable dogs! Our team is in desperate need of foster homes for moms raising their puppies. We provide all the supplies, momma does all the work, all you have to do is just give them a place to crash until the puppies are old enough to be on their own. Once the puppies are old enough, mom and puppies can both go on their way to separate fosters.

💕 Sweet Susie is ready for her fresh start.
When Susie was at the shelter, she quickly became a playgroup rockstar. She loved spending time with other dogs, winning over volunteers and staff with her fun, playful personality and sweet nature.
Then she came down with a respiratory infection.
We knew she deserved the chance to heal somewhere safe, so we brought her into our care. Now she’s feeling so much better, her respiratory infection is behind her, and she’s almost ready for the next chapter.
The only thing left on her to-do list? Her spay surgery. Once she’s recovered, Susie will officially be ready to find the adoptive family she’s been dreaming of. ❤️
If you’re looking for a playful best friend who loves to have fun but has an equally sweet and loving side, Susie might just be your perfect match.

This handsome boy recently spent some time in a short-term foster home where he showed everyone what a sweetheart he is. He was respectful of the resident cats, loved hanging out with the other dogs, and proved he’s the kind of puppy who just wants to be part of the family.
Now George is looking for a new foster home... or, even better, a forever home of his own. 🏡
He’s still just a puppy with so much life, love, and learning ahead of him. All he needs is someone willing to give him the chance.
