Join us for a meaningful afternoon of remembrance, reflection, and education in recognition of Jewish American Heritage Month .

Mount Sinai Memorial Parks and Mortuaries and the David Labkovski Project present "Documenting History Through Art," a powerful DLP traveling exhibit.

Labkovski’s work reflects 500 years of Jewish life in Vilna, Lithuania, alongside his own story of survival under Stalin’s regime in the Siberian Gulag and his later years in Israel.

The exhibit will be guided by DLP student docents Conner R. (de Toledo High School), Layla N. (Archer School for Girls), Sarah K. (Taft High School), and Maya S. (Cleveland Humanities Magnet), whose perspectives and knowledge bring these works into the present in a meaningful and personal way.

The event will include a special lecture by DLP founder and Labkovski’s great-niece, Leora Raikin, who will share DLP’s unique project-based educational program that brings David Labkovski’s art into American schools and guides students to become docents and educators.

“The DLP has renewed my faith in humanity- this program is inspirational countering antisemitism and hate while creating youth leadership. Through Labkovski’s art, students moved beyond dates and facts — learning instead to analyze emotion, identify themes, and respond creatively to history in deeply personal ways through art and poetry.”

- Layla N., DLP Student Ambassador

For UN Holocaust commemoration, DLP Student Ambassador Layla brought the DLP exhibit "Documenting History through Art” to Archer School. She curated, installed, and guided students through the exhibit.

Students throughout CA are bringing the DLP to their school campus - sign up to join the upcoming winter cohort: https://www.davidlabkovskiproject.org/dlp-programs/student-docent-leadership-training/

The David Labkovski Project has reached more students and adults than ever before.

The rise in antisemitism and Holocaust denial around the world makes it more important than ever for people to remember the horrors of the Holocaust and the very real dangers and consequences of antisemitism. It’s difficult to conceptualize the systematic annihilation of six million people. Humanizing this experience through the eyes of one man, David Labkovski, allows people to better understand the pain and despair the N***s inflicted on the Jewish community.

Your support of our mission has enabled us to engage with over 100 partner organizations and to present lectures exhibitions and workshops to thousands of people across the US from South Africa to Mexico to Europe, and across the U.S. Every lecture and every exhibit has a ripple effect. It starts with the students that may have never heard of the Holocaust. It starts with the students that just know the number six million. It starts with adults who know very little about their Jewish history.

It starts with you.

As individuals we have a moral obligation to educate people about the mistakes of the past to prevent them from happening again. We cannot shy away from this responsibility.

For Giving Tuesday, we ask that you continue to support DLP and our programs through a donation. Together, we can make a difference.

Thank you to Connie Marco and Noah Marco for creating a beautiful partnership between the David Labkovski Project and the Younes and Soraya Nazarian Center for the Performing Arts—a place that builds bridges and connects all members of the community.

The new traveling DLP exhibit, “Through the Eyes of David Labkovski: Sholom Aleichem and His Heroes,” debuted last weekend alongside the incredible performances of "Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish."

The exhibit and performance fused the literature of renowned Yiddish author Sholem Aleichem with the artwork of Litvak, Yiddish-speaking artist David Labkovski—offering a unique lens into 500 years of Eastern European Jewish life.

DLP docents led hundreds of visitors through Labkovski’s illustrations in an exhibit curated by DLP co-founder Stephanie Wolfson.

The exhibit is open through December 23.
