We celebrated Black Breastfeeding week with a fair at our campus in Watts. The event brought together organizations that focus on Black maternal health, prenatal services, postpartum services, and healthy babies all in one place to give parents a chance to find get informed about services and just have a good time!

We also had panels about Doulas, breastfeeding, prenatal yoga, and more!

In honor of the upcoming Hispanic heritage month, we’re doing a series about how we serve the Hispanic community in our organization.

This is Sandy Moralles, who was inspired to become a therapist because she saw the huge demand for Spanish language therapy.

Part of providing Spanish language therapy is explaining the terms and getting on the same page about words the patient uses to describe their mental state.

Have you done Spanish language therapy? What was your experience? Would you be interested in trying it? Let us know in the comments!

Participants from our Fatherhood Project program were given a very special experience by one of our donors: amazing tickets to a football game!

Going to their first football game can be incredibly exciting, but getting to share that experience with their family is even more special!

Project fatherhood was developed to give urban, culturally, diverse fathers, an opportunity to connect with their children and play a meaningful role in their lives. Do you know someone that might benefit from such a class?

For decades, Michele and Rob Reiner were among the nation’s most influential champions for children and families.

Among their most significant achievements was their leadership in establishing First 5 California through the voter-approved to***co tax initiative, which has generated more than $12.5 billion to help children thrive during the most critical years of life since its inception.

The inaugural Michele & Rob Reiner Champion for Change Award will be presented to Jamie Lee Curtis at Children’s Institute’s Cape & Gown Gala on Sunday, November 8, at The Beverly Wilshire hotel in Beverly Hills.

“I can’t think of a more meaningful way to honor the legacy of my sister Michele and my brother-in-law Rob,” says Martine Singer, President and CEO of Children’s Institute.

What does childcare have to do with politics? If you’re a parent, a lot! LAist has created a survey to ask parents in LA about their experience with childcare and will bring that to the candidates in the next election to get their stance on childcare. That way, LA voters will have more information on how they want to cast their vote about the issues that matter to them.

We were pleased to host Sabrina Sanchez and the LAist booth at one of our Community Conversation events at Children’s Institute so they could get more survey participants and talk with our community.

For fathers who may not have grown up with positive examples of fatherhood, Project Fatherhood creates a space to hear from other men, share experiences, and learn from one another. It’s about building a brotherhood where fathers can find encouragement, direction, and the support to become the fathers they want to be.

Sometimes, hearing someone else’s story is all it takes to see a different path forward.

Give Project Fatherhood a try. Click the link in our bio to sign up for the program or donate to help up continue to make a difference to people like Ricardo and his girls. ❤️

At Children’s Institute we think it’s kinda chic to focus on mental health, especially now that school is back in session. This can be a very stressful time for parents and children.

We offer high-quality early education and youth programs, counseling services, parenting supports, workforce and community leadership development and advocacy.
