There’s a lot being talked about right now about exploitation and trafficking.

Instead of getting lost in the noise, I want to bring the focus back to something we know for sure:

Survivors are real.
They are living among us.
And they need access to healing.

There is not a shortage of survivors.
There is a shortage of resources.

That’s why I started A New Dawn in 2019 — to offer trauma-informed healing through equine therapy, somatic practices, nervous system regulation, and safe community.

As part of that mission, we’re hosting:

Anchor & Align: Healing at the Ranch
Regulate. Restore. Reconnect.

A restorative day with horses, movement, meditation, and nature designed to help women reconnect with their bodies and experience a sense of safety and grounding.

This March, a team of four incredible high school leaders from the I3 competition will be spearheading a fundraising campaign to help sponsor survivors to attend this event.

Their goal is simple:
Help survivors access healing.

We are seeking a Director of Programs & Operations — someone who can help turn healing into sustainable systems.

Stipend-based leadership role (initial 3-month pilot), with opportunity to grow into a salaried position as funding expands.

As an Occupational Therapist with over 30 years of experience, Dr. Reid founded A New Dawn to fill a critical gap in trauma-informed healing for survivors of s*xual exploitation and trafficking. ✨
Her mission?
To create a safe, compassionate space where survivors can reconnect with themselves through equine-assisted services, myofascial release, somatic integration, EMDR, and more.

⭐️Rethinking Boundaries: From Control to Connection

Boundaries are something we often hear about—especially in the survivor community. But what if the way we think about them is actually blocking connection rather than creating safety?

This past week, I was feeling anger—not just at someone repeatedly crossing my boundaries, but at myself for allowing it to happen. Then, in perfect timing, my studies in Natural Lifemanship (an equine-assisted therapy approach- working with horses for healing) introduced a powerful shift in perspective:

🚫 Instead of setting boundaries to control others…
✅ We create clear boundaries for ourselves, based on what we DO want in a relationship.

💡 “When control enters the relationship, connection leaves—control of the other and connection simply cannot co-exist.”

This hits deep. Learning to shift from reacting to embodying boundaries—staying clear about what aligns with the relationships we want to build- is an eye opening perspective.
