Venice Pride is honored to welcome Shannon Axe as a featured speaker at the 10th Annual Venice Pride Block Party.
Shannon is a proud, openly transgender woman whose life has been defined by courage, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to justice. She came out in 2007 at just seven years old and, as a result, was denied access to her public education for more than four months. Her story became the subject of national attention, placing her at the center of a pivotal conversation about the rights and dignity of transgender children.
Rather than be silenced, Shannon turned adversity into advocacy.
She went on to make history as the first openly transgender teenager featured in J-14 Magazine, helping bring transgender visibility to young people and families across the country. Today, as a multiracial woman, activist, storyteller, actor, model, and advocate, Shannon continues to use her voice to challenge injustice, build understanding, and fight for a future where every person can live authentically and freely.
Shannon’s story is a powerful reminder that when transgender youth are denied equal treatment, the consequences are real. That is why she joins us in supporting efforts to restore access to care for transgender youth at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
On Saturday, Shannon will speak alongside 2026 Bill Rosendahl Pioneer of the Year honoree Colin Campbell, whose campaign has called attention to CHLA’s decision to discontinue its Center for Transyouth Health and Development and halt certain gender-affirming care services for transgender youth.
