🚨🏀 KIRK IS STILL IN THE HUNT FOR HIS FOREVER FAMILY! 🏀🚨
First things first… if you haven’t noticed the ball permanently attached to Kirk’s mouth, you must be new here. 😂

This 9-month-old baller is ALL ABOUT FETCH. He brings the ball back… sometimes. 😏 Other times, he apparently believes we’re playing a game called “You Can’t Have It.” He’s still a puppy, folks. Sharing is a work in progress.

Foster Mom has basically had to invade her 401(k) to maintain Kirk’s ball inventory. 🏦💸⚾ At this point, she may need to start a GoFundMe for squeaky balls.

Kirk is a total social butterfly! 🐶❤️ He gets along great with other dogs and absolutely loves the grandkids when they come to visit. He sleeps in his crate at night and is almost at the point where he accepts bedtime without filing a formal complaint. 😂

And then there are the kisses. 💋

Kirk is as lovable as they come and firmly believes that every human face deserves to be thoroughly washed with his giant, sloppy, wet tongue. His technique is aggressive. His intentions are pure. 😂❤️

He’s currently couch surfing in Rancho Cucamonga, CA, while waiting for someone to realize that life is better with a goofy, ball-obsessed, kiss-delivering puppy in it.

🍗🍗DUE TO THE OVERWHELMING RESPONSE WE ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS🍗🍗

Meet Chicken Nugget! 🍗This handsome four-year-old English Cream Longhair Dachshund is making quite the splash. Raised as an only dog after coming from a local breeder, Chicken Nugget is now discovering just how much fun it is to be part of a foster pack. Watching him gain confidence and enjoy playtime with his new canine friends has been a joy.

One thing is for sure—Chicken Nugget absolutely loves the water. Whether he’s swimming laps or catching rides on a boogie board, he’s happiest when he’s making waves. He’s also an enthusiastic jumper, so his future family should be prepared to continue working with him on that behavior through consistent training and positive reinforcement.

If you’re looking for a fun-loving, adventurous companion who’s learning to embrace life with other dogs, Chicken Nugget may be the perfect addition to your family.

Chicken Nugget is currently being fostered in Orange County, CA. If you are interested in adopting him please fill out an online application here https://www.dachshundsandfriends.org/adoption-form. Adoption is $900.

Remember Stitch (formerly Squints), one of our Dachshunds and Friends Rescue alumni?
If you remember Stitch, he came to us from the shelter with both sides of his pelvis fractured. We had to have him put him back together like Humpty Dumpty... thankfully, our orthopedic team did a much better job than all the king’s horses and all the king’s men.

Fast forward to today: Stitch was adopted by Jodi this past December and is now living his best life in Las Vegas. As you’ll see in this video, you can’t keep a good man down. Apparently, nobody told him he had major orthopedic surgery and has hardware in his pelvis because he’s out here channeling his inner stealth ninja, showing off parkour moves all over the house and keeping everyone on their toes.

Stories like Stitch’s are what rescue is all about. A dog who could have easily been overlooked, or worse, is now thriving, loved, and making us laugh every single day.

None of this happens without our incredible village—our supporters, fosters, veterinarians, volunteers, and adopters. Because of everyone involved Stitch got a second chance... and he’s making the absolute most of it. Every dog deserves a happy ending. His mama goes that extra mile for Stitch….he has his own doggie chiropractor (even though his mama is a chiropractor for a different species) and he goes to training 2-3 times a week…..which he loves. The perfect life.

Why is no one choosing Kirk? 💔
Kirk has spent his whole life waiting. He was born in a shelter in November 2025 and came into our rescue when he was just two months old. Since then, he’s watched other dogs leave for their forever homes while he continues to wait. For the past six months, Kirk has been available for adoption. Not one application. Not one person has asked to meet him. It’s heartbreaking because anyone who knows Kirk knows what an incredible dog he is.
He’s sweet, goofy, playful, and so full of love. His foster says he’s her little shadow, following her everywhere because all he wants is to be close to his person. He loves attention, loves to play, and would thrive with an active family who will make him part of their everyday life. He gets along well with other dogs. We know his family is out there. Maybe they just haven’t seen him yet. Please help us change Kirk’s story. Share his post, tell your friends, and help us find the people who have been missing out on this amazing boy. One share could be the reason Kirk finally gets the forever home he’s been waiting for. Kirk has waited long enough. Let’s help him find the love he’s always deserved. He is being fostered in Fontana, Ca Submit an application at https://www.dachshundsandfriends.org/

😬😬😬😬Kirk has officially fallen in with the wrong crowd at his sketchy foster home.

It started with petty theft—shoes, toys, treats... basically anything that wasn’t nailed down. Now he’s been caught trying to look tough by puffing on an unfiltered cig. 🚬 (Don’t worry—it was quickly confiscated, and no puppies were harmed in the making of this photo.)

This is what happens when an impressionable 8-month-old hangs around questionable influences. 😆

The good news? There’s still time to save this wayward youth! Kirk just needs a forever family to get him back on the straight and narrow—one with plenty of toys that actually belong to him, lots of treats, and humans willing to overlook his brief “juvenile delinquent” phase.

Help us get Kirk into witness protection... er, we mean a loving forever home.

Fill out an adoption application at https://www.dachshundsandfriends.org/adoption-form and give this adorable little hoodlum the fresh start he deserves.

Dorito Update ❤️

Our hearts have been on quite the roller coaster these past few days.

After bringing Dorito home to recover from surgery with his mom and dad, it became clear that something just wasn’t right. He wasn’t acting like himself, and we noticed part of his incision didn’t seem to be healing the way it should. We knew we couldn’t wait.

Dorito was rushed back to the hospital, where we received the news every rescue fears—he had become septic. He was immediately readmitted so the veterinary team could begin aggressive antibiotics and supportive care. It was another terrifying chapter in his journey, and there were moments when we were so scared of what might happen.

Thankfully, our sweet fighter has been responding well to treatment. He’s doing much better, but he still has a road to recovery ahead of him. We’ll be watching him closely and doing everything we can to help him heal until he’s back to feeling like the happy boy we know and love.

As relieved as we are that Dorito is improving, this unexpected emergency has placed an enormous strain on our little rescue. His surgery had already cost more than $10,000, and this emergency hospitalization added another $2,400, bringing his total medical expenses to $13,118.17.

We never want finances to determine whether a dog gets the care they need. Every dog who comes through our doors deserves a chance, and we’ll always fight for them. But the reality is that bills like these stretch our resources to the limit.

If you are able to help, whether through a donation, sharing Dorito’s story, or simply sending prayers and positive thoughts, we would be deeply grateful. Every act of kindness helps us continue saying “yes” to dogs who have nowhere else to turn.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for loving Dorito and for standing beside our rescue. Your compassion is what makes stories like his possible. Donations are accepted through: ❤️1) Zelle
