The talented will be leading an ALL AGES drawing and painting exploration on Sunday June 7 at .la !

Open to ages 5+

Kiddos and adults welcome!

This hands-on workshop introduces participants to the fundamentals of drawing and painting through the study of flowers. 🌹

Using a curated selection of fresh flowers and visual references, participants will observe form, color, and texture while developing their own creative interpretations.

Each participant will choose their subject and preferred medium— pencil, watercolor, or acrylic— encouraging independent decision-making and personal expression.

Guided demonstrations will cover simplifying complex forms into basic shapes, building structure through sketching, and applying color through layering and mixing techniques.

Rest and Ritual is a guided experience of tea ceremony, meditation, and sound healing. Each element is offered slowly and with intention to help you settle your body, quiet the mind, and return to presence. It is a space to rest, reconnect, and be held in stillness within community.

Chanel Thomas is a therapeutic bodyworker, sound healing facilitator, and the founder of Zen Fairy Wellness. Her work centers on slowing the nervous system, reconnecting people to their bodies, and creating spaces for deep rest and presence. Through intentional touch, sound, breath, and ritual, Chanel guides experiences that support grounding, emotional release, and inner clarity.

Heartbroken and burnt-out from community care work?
Tired of being the only Healing Arts practitioner who talks about justice?
Feeling angry and drained by spiritual bypassing in the wellness industry?

You are not alone. Camellia Dao-Ling says, "Our communities need healers, and healers need community." Join Jeanne Ann Heo in co-creating a mutual support network of Healing Justice practitioners. Nourishing our connections through in-person gatherings at Sovern, we'll share medicine with each other through service exchanges and skill-trades. As we deepen our relationships through gatherings in alignment with the seasons, we honor the cadence of ritual time. This drop-in, potluck, emergent collective is inspired by the honeybee and the acronym BALM: Belonging, Access, Listening, Medicine. We invite you to practice the reLOVEutionary care work of community-building in the spirit of those who went before us.

Join us for the closing reception of sacred, a group exhibition curated by Naomi Stewart, featuring an artist panel with select participating artists.
Rooted in questions of reverence, resilience, and self-definition, sacred invites us to consider what it means to embody the sacred within the Black soul while navigating white-body supremacy and generational trauma. Throughout the exhibition, the artists have offered pathways toward healing through practices that alchemize grief, embrace rest, and center creativity as a site of resistance.
This closing gathering offers space to be in conversation with the curator and exhibiting artists, reflecting on the exhibition’s themes and the role of art in cultivating self-fortitude and collective care. Together, we will explore how reclaiming reverence for body, history, and spirit can shape new possibilities for protest, healing, and imagination.

Capoeira Angola is an Afro-Brazilian art form that weaves together movement, music, history, and community. Rooted in traditions created by Africans in Brazil, it blends a sometimes low-to-the-ground, sometimes standing playful physical dialogue with live percussion, call-and-response songs, and ritual. More than a martial art, Capoeira Angola is a practice of rhythm, strategy, expression, and collective care—inviting everyone to explore creativity, connection, and resistance through embodied movement. In this class we will learn how to play the instruments, how to sing the songs, and we will explore the movements in a manner that is engaging, beginner friendly and also challenging for more experienced participants.
