The June DEI Meeting is dedicated to all the new grads and people taking a gap year!

We know going into an internship right after graduating can be a financial burden. Most people take time off to work & save money.

So we put together a meeting with some of the people working in the field or who have worked in the field as a non-RD.

Join us June 8th @ 6:30 as we hear from a variety of specialties

- WIC Nutritionist
- Personal Trainer
- Food Service Manager

In addition we will have a CHLA RD speak about her experience becoming an RD.

Join us via zoom!

Say hello to our DEI guest speaker who will be in attendance Weds 3/16 @ 6:30👋🏼

“My name is Maria Solfrizzo and I am a dietetic intern/graduate student at California State University Long Beach, where I also go my Bachelor’s Degree in nutrition. I am passionate about plant-based nutrition and I have been vegan for 8 years. I’m from Illinois and currently live in Orange County where I work part time as a bartender. In my free time I enjoy yoga, cooking, and spending time with friends and family.”

Maria will be sharing some resources and education on how to support food insecure communities with a plant based diet!

What a great way to celebrate !

🚨Action Alert 🚨

With food prices rising, many families are more reliant than ever on WIC and other federal nutrition programs to put healthy food on the table. More children are benefitting from WIC, with a 7.5 percent national increase in child participation since the beginning of the pandemic. The comprehensive 2017 NASEM report is a strong foundation for additional steps that USDA can take to enhance the nutritional value of WIC food packages by increasing regular access to healthy foods like fruits, vegetables, and lower-mercury fish to promote diet patterns that are even further aligned with NASEM’s recommendations and the DGAs.

We urge USDA to act expeditiously to promulgate a proposed rule that will enhance the health of low-income women and children.
