Facebook supporters: After a very long fight, AFSCME Local 800 has settled both union contracts with JVS SoCal!
"JVS admin/original unit members will receive a 3.25% increase in pay, retroactive to 2019, another 1.5 percent increase on July 1, 2021, and 1.75% on July 1, 2022. They will also receive a $500 bonus, plus improved severance pay in case of layoffs. JVS GAIN employees will receive a 3-5% increase over the 1.5-year agreement. They also won improved sick leave, vacation benefits, and recall rights for laid-off employees. The Union also accepted sensible revisions to our CBA requested by JVS. Union membership voted unanimously in both units to approve the final agreement."

Take 15 seconds to support frontline workers Click this link bit.ly/LASupportJVSWorkers to submit a pre-written letter to the LA County Board of Supervisors. Here’s why: The JVS contract expired July 2019, which means these Local 800 members have not had a raise since 2018! Not only is JVS SoCal not negotiating in good faith, they are proposing substandard pay increases and unfairly want to take away basic rights like severance pay, restrict employee rights to take legal action against discrimination or sexual harassment and more.

We're requesting your support for 90 workers employed in two separate bargaining units at JVS SoCal (formerly Jewish Vocational Services) represented by AFSCME Local 800. This includes the case managers, job developers and clerical staff working in the LA County GAIN Program. Negotiations have been....

JVS scholarship recipient and Rabbi calls on JVS SoCal to settle a fair contract now.
"When I was a rabbinical student, JVS SoCal, then named Jewish Vocational Services, was there for me, helping me obtain the scholarship money that I really needed. JVS SoCal’s stance regarding its employees seems at odds with its tradition and mission of supporting working people in building lives of dignity and prosperity.
Jewish tradition is explicit in its mandate to treat workers equitably and with respect. An announcement of a bargaining breakthrough, demonstrating that JVS remains committed to treating its workers with dignity, would go far to rally friends of the organization to its aid. And it would bring JVS closer to the Jewish values that are so integral to its work."
Rabbi Robin Podolsky in the Jewish Journal

"I am doing my best to help others. I have such a bad headache. I am losing my health - it's kind of for nothing. I want people to hear our voice and appreciate us. Our job is very tough and hard especially in this last month. If we are servicing our community let others serve us too. We need financial support as well. We are for others, let others be for us too."
