We’re ready to celebrate 100 years of the Shakespeare Bridge with our neighbors!

And a special thank you to local artist Ben Kendall, whose beautiful “Bridge on a Red Sky” captures a little of the magic of our neighborhood. We picked up the prints today, just in time for the big celebration! We can’t wait to celebrate with you, Franklin Hills! ❤️

The final watercolor! You may have seen the earlier version of Christopher Johnsen’s wonderful artwork as we’ve counted down to the Centennial.

Now, with Saturday almost here, we’re excited to share the finished piece.

A huge thank you to our Franklin Hills neighbor Christopher for putting so much time, care & neighborhood spirit into capturing the day — and for generously donating the original artwork to FHRA.

We can’t wait to see this little map come to life on Saturday!

GOOD NEWS, NEIGHBORS: WE’VE GOT PARKING!
We’re happy to share that free event parking will be available at John Marshall High School this Saturday for the Shakespeare Bridge Centennial Celebration

Enter at 3939 Tracy St.
Lot open 10 AM - 6 PM
Parking is FREE

Look for “100 BRIDGE PARKING HERE” signs at the Tracy Street gate. From there, it’s an easy walk to both the parade gathering point at Tracy & St. George and the block party beneath the bridge on Monon St. We’ll have directional signage along the way.

Thanks to John Marshall High School for helping us make Saturday a little easier for our neighbors and guests.

Street closures and no-parking/tow-away zones will still be in effect along the parade route, so if you’re driving, Marshall is your best bet.

See you Saturday!

A little something to remember 100 years by! We’re excited to reveal our new Shakespeare Bridge Centennial collection, designed by one of our very own Franklin Hills neighbors in celebration of the bridge turning 100.

Commemorative tees, heavyweight crewnecks + hoodies and dyed dad hats will be available exclusively at our Centennial Celebration this Saturday, October 10 - and quantities are limited.

And that’s not all! We’ll have more special Centennial keepsakes, artwork + printed goods from neighborhood artists available at the celebration, too.

A few of our neighbors gathered on Monon Street today to walk through the details for next Saturday’s Centennial celebration. There are a lot of moving pieces (and a lot of neighbors helping move them). One week to go. See you under the bridge!

Well, look who made the L.A. Times!
Our little bridge is turning 100 & Christopher Reynolds beautifully captures what the Shakespeare Bridge has meant to generations of neighbors who have walked it, driven it, decorated it, cared for it and called Franklin Hills home. We couldn’t agree more!

Thank you to Christopher Reynolds & the Los Angeles Times for shining a light on this very special piece of our neighborhood and on the community that has grown around it.

10 DAYS TO GO! 🎉
In just 10 days, we’ll celebrate 100 years of the Shakespeare Bridge - and 100 years of connecting communities.

We’re kicking things off with a neighborhood parade filled with some familiar Franklin Hills faces (and paws): vintage cars, the Marshall High Jazz Band, Silver Lake Conservatory of Music Highsteppers, students and families from our neighborhood schools, the Los Feliz Public Library, some very good dogs & their walkers & a few special neighbors who have their own place in Franklin Hills history!

Then we’ll gather beneath the bridge on Monon Street for an afternoon of live music, food, family fun and Centennial festivities.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10
Parade lineup: 11 AM
Parade begins: 12 PM
Centennial Block Party: 1–4 PM
Free & open to all.
100 years. One very special bridge. See you in 10 days!

Our neighborhood, in watercolor 🎨 Franklin Hills neighbor & artist Christopher Johnsen painted this very special map of the Shakespeare Bridge Centennial parade route - complete with a few familiar landmarks along the way. Even more special: Christopher is generously donating the original watercolor to the Franklin Hills Residents Association in honor of the bridge’s 100th.

Follow the route from Tracy St & St George St, across our neighborhood & over the Shakespeare Bridge, ending at the Monon Street block party.

A pretty great crew to have in our corner!

A big thank you to everyone who joined us this morning for our first Bridge Centennial Volunteer Meet-Up - and to everyone who has already raised their hand to help us bring October 10 to life. We’re so grateful for the time, energy and neighborhood spirit you’re bringing to this celebration.
