A few months ago, these rooms were empty. Today, they’re full of life. 💛

Expectant mothers filled the new maternity clinic for vaccinations and checkups, welcomed by nurses with care, dancing, and plenty of joy.

One mother shared that she lost her first baby during a difficult delivery in her village. Here, she safely delivered a healthy baby girl. Today, both mother and daughter are thriving. ❤️

This is what the maternity clinic was built for- safer care for mothers and babies, right when they need it most.

🇨🇩 Congo Fact

The Democratic Republic of the Congo is home to Mount Nyiragongo, an active volcano with the world's largest permanent lava lake.

Its lava is unusually fluid, which means it can move incredibly fast. During a 2002 eruption, some lava flows reached speeds of up to 40 mph (60 km/h).

We spend a lot of time sharing stories from the communities where Lobiko works. Every now and then, we'll also share something that makes the DRC such a fascinating place, from its wildlife and landscapes to its rich cultures and history.

Arriving at Sabuli Children Center after church on Sunday. ❤️

This is how the children often greet the people who care for them. And honestly, it never gets old. 🥹🫶

It's easy to miss how much happens before breakfast.

Someone stocked the shelves. Someone lit the stove. Someone stirred the porridge. Someone made sure every child had a place to sit.

This is breakfast at Mama Monique Foundation, where hundreds of vulnerable children gather each morning for warm soy and corn porridge before heading to school.

It's the kind of work that rarely gets noticed, but it shapes the rest of the day for every child who comes through the door.

School is out, and summer holidays are underway at the Sabuli Children Center.

With a new radio and a steady supply of Congolese dance music, the days have quickly found their rhythm. Singing and dancing are a big part of life here. Once the music starts, it doesn’t take long for everyone to join in.

The school day starts with a song.

Each morning, this kindergarten teacher gathers her students to sing and dance before class begins. Some of these children are from Sabuli Children's Center, our program partner. Many others are neighbors in the surrounding community.

For a few minutes before class, the schoolyard fills with music, movement, and laughter.

Just two months after opening, the maternity ward is already full of life.

One mother shared that she lost her first baby during a difficult delivery in her village. Here, she safely delivered a healthy baby girl, and today both mother and daughter are thriving.

In May alone, 19 babies were delivered safely in the new maternity ward. ❤️

Every day, these rooms are filled with songs, laughter, and children who know they're loved. ❤️

This is what an afternoon at Sabuli Children's Center sounds like.

Every day, the Maman Monique Foundation feeds hundreds of vulnerable children.

One of them is Jackie, who traveled more than 45 kilometers to reach the foundation. He arrived severely malnourished, and today he is healthy and thriving because people chose to care.

As more children come for help, the foundation is finding simple ways to keep this work going, including selling water, juice, bread, and now fresh popcorn.

Thank you for being part of it. ❤️

For the first time since 1974, DR Congo went to the World Cup.

In Gemena, hundreds of young players have joined the Gemena Football Academy, an after-school program, and Lobiko partner, where young people come together to train, compete, and build friendships through football.

As they practice on this field in Gemena, it's hard not to imagine the excitement of watching their country take football's biggest stage. Score their first World Cup goal. Win their first World Cup match.

They imagine themselves in a future World Cup.

For now, they're focused on practicing the game they love. ⚽🇨🇩
