During one of the Mentoring POC Healing Arts (MPOCHA) art workshops, one of the mentees, Mekiyah Wilson shared a piece of flash fiction she crafted. 

Writing fiction helps reduce stress, builds empathy, and creates shared experiences.

Healing happens in community!

Psyches of Color, Inc. was proud to host our 2nd Annual Mental Wellness Day, bringing community members, mental health professionals, volunteers, and youth leaders together for a day centered around healing, self-care, resilience, and hope.

This year’s theme “Rooted in Resilience, Supported in Stability,” was the foundation built for creativity, community, great food, meaningful conversations focused on mental health with a spotlight on individuals impacted by housing instability.

Those who attended also enjoyed self-care services, including haircuts, hair braiding, hair washing, and makeup face glams at no cost to the community.

Everyone deserves wellness and self-care! Psyches of Color will continue bringing this energy and intention into every space we foster and cultivate!

What began as a journey of connection, healing, creativity, and growth has blossomed into lasting relationships and unforgettable memories. For six months, our mentors and mentees have shown up for one another with courage, compassion, and authenticity, reminding us that healing happens in community.

We’re so proud of everything this cohort has accomplished and can’t wait to see how each of you continues to grow, lead, and thrive!
