A very special day at Boyle Heights Jiu Jitsu.

We had the privilege of welcoming Diego Lopes for a private day with students from both Boyle Heights Jiu Jitsu and East LA Jiu Jitsu.

Diego shared a technique with the kids, spent time training with them on the mats, and took the time to speak with them and share some incredibly encouraging words. Having someone who competes at the highest level give his time, knowledge, and attention to our students made this an experience they won’t forget.

We’re incredibly grateful to Diego for spending the day with our kids and inspiring the next generation. Thank you for your generosity, encouragement, and for making this such a memorable experience for them.

Wishing you continued success in everything ahead, Diego! We’ll be cheering you on!

We’ll be celebrating with OPEN MAT ONLY at East LA Jiu Jitsu.

10:30 AM Open Mat
All regular classes will be closed for the holiday.

Our Boyle Heights Jiu Jitsu students will also be joining us at ELAJJ, so come get some rounds in with both communities and enjoy the holiday.

It’s almost time to do it again.🔥 and today we have an opportunity for 3 people to get their registration for FREE!

The next stop in our 2026 Friendship Tournament Series is coming up this September, and we want to see our teams show up ready.

Competition gives you something regular training can’t fully recreate. The nerves. The pressure. Having to trust your Jiu Jitsu when someone across from you wants the same win you do.

But you’re never doing it by yourself.

Your coaches are on the sidelines. Your teammates are behind you. And every match—win or lose—gives us something to take back to the academy and work on.

A promotion in adult jiu jitsu isn’t just about technique. It’s about every early morning, every late night, every moment you almost didn’t come in but did anyway.

Recently we celebrated the adults who make East LA Jiu Jitsu what it is. Their dedication sets the tone for everyone who walks through our doors.

On Friday July 17th, our students showed up and showed out.

New belts. New stripes. New chapters.

There is nothing quite like watching a kid realize what they are capable of. That moment when their coach ties that belt around their waist and they look up — that’s why we do this.

Congratulations to everyone who was promoted. The mat has made you stronger, and you’ve made this community better. Keep going.
