ADVENTURE GUIDES RETURNS FOR 2022-2023 AT THE WESTCHESTER FAMILY YMCA!
Adventure Guides launch parents and their children in Grades K-4 on a journey of discovery, with the child as the explorer and the parent as the guide. The program emphasizes the YMCA's belief that parental involvement plays a vital, positive role in a child's development. Adventure Guides encourages parents to get to know your kid while your kid is still a kid with group activities such as games, crafts, songs, stories, skits, ceremonies, and outdoor pursuits. This program is a wonderful opportunity to build, strengthen, and nurture healthy relationships between dads and their kids through challenging and fun activities such as Winter Camp, pinewood derby, and much more!

August/September - Registration & Recruiting Drive

● Adventure Guides Program Registration is FREE for all YMCA Members / Registration for non-Members is $100.00 per person

September: Thu., 9/22/22, 7-8pm - Information & Orientation Event (YMCA Annex)
● For NEW & INTERESTED member families, a short briefing on the program
September: Sat., 9/24/22 – A Full Day of Activities!
● 8-11am: Pancake Breakfast (YMCA Annex) / All family members are invited and welcome to attend!
● 12-7pm: Westchester Arts & Music Block Party (Emerson Avenue Area, Westchester, CA)
● Our Adventure Guides Nation will be present to support the event and host an activity
October: Fri., 10/7/22-Sun, 10/9/22 - Fall Weekend Camp (Camp Surf, Coronado, CA)
● Tent camping on the beach located at a YMCA facility loaded with great activities
October: Fri., 10/28/22 (TBD) - YMCA Spooktacular! Event (YMCA)
● Our AG Nation will host a Hallowe’en-themed activity at this community event
November: Sun., 11/20/22, 12-4pm - Community Potluck (YMCA Annex)
● Whole family invited/welcome for this opportunity to enjoy community fellowship
December: Sun., 12/11/22, 1-3pm - Ice Skating (Toyota Sports Center)
● The whole family is welcomed to join us for a spin on the ice and some hot chocolate
January: Sun., 1/22/23, 9am-1pm - Pinewood Derby Event (YMCA Gymnasium)
● An Adventure Guides Tradition! Build and racing your own cars!
February: Sat., 2/18/23-Mon., 2/20/23 - Winter Camp (YMCA Camp Whittle)
● A weekend at YMCA Camp Whittle in the snowy San Bernardino Mountains
March: (Date TBD) - “Give Back to the Y” Event
● An opportunity for our AG Nation to directly support the Westchester Family YMCA
April: (Date TBD) - “Spring Forward” Community Service Event
● Our AG Circles join together for a Beach Clean-Up or alternative community project
May: Sat., 5/13/23, 3-6pm - Bike Rodeo (Westchester Family YMCA)
● This annual and traditional event teaches safety and provides fun for the whole family!
June: Fri., 6/23/23-Sun., 6/25/23 - Weekend Camp at Leo Carrillo Beach
● Celebrating the start of summer with a weekend of tent camping on the beach
July: Tue, 7/4/24, 9am-1pm - Westchester 4th of July Parade
● Our AG Nation’s Parade Entry: a walking activity or building a float
