Immigration courts should be about fairness — not fast-tracking deportations.

But this Administration is reshaping the system to detain more people, rush cases, and push families out of the country with little chance to defend themselves.

We’re watching. We’re organizing.

We’re ramping up court watching efforts in 2026 and need you with us to fight back.

Most people only hear about the Supreme Court — but real, everyday justice happens long before a case ever reaches that level. ⚖️

👩🏽‍⚖️ Local courts decide who stays in jail pretrial.
🏛 State courts handle 90% of all criminal and civil cases.
🦅 Federal courts can pause or block national policies.

Each level of court holds power — from your neighborhood courtroom to Washington D.C.

Understanding who holds that power helps us demand accountability where it matters most. ✊🏽

🔥 Incarcerated firefighters put their lives on the line to protect our communities, yet when the fire is out, they return to cages.

Assembly Bill 812 would change that. Authored by Asm. Lowenthal , AB 812 gives CDCR the power to recommend resentencing for those who served as incarcerated firefighters—recognizing their courage, skill, and humanity.

From the Palisades Fire to countless blazes across California, incarcerated crews—many of them women—have been first on the scene, saving lives and land. They deserve more than exploitation; they deserve freedom and respect.

📣 Governor Newsom, it’s time to honor their sacrifice. Sign AB 812 into law.

When we think about protecting our rights, most of us picture the U.S. Supreme Court. ⚖️🇺🇸

But here’s the truth: state courts hear 95% of all cases in this country—and their rulings often determine our everyday freedoms.

From setting bail 💵 to deciding eviction cases 🏠, from immigration 🌎 to family law 👨‍👩‍👧, state judges shape the outcomes that impact our communities most directly. Yet, they’re often overlooked in advocacy and public accountability.

We can’t afford to ignore them.

Holding state courts and judges accountable is just as important as any fight happening at the federal level. Because real justice starts where our communities show up.

So which is it? Race “doesn’t matter” when it comes to education, opportunity, and equity 📚✊🏾—but it’s fair game when it comes to surveillance, stops, kidnappings, and cages 🚔⛓️.

Yesterday, the Supreme Court showed its hypocrisy on full display, upholding the power of police to racially profile, doubling down on criminalization and punishment while two years ago it banned race-based affirmative action in college admissions.

This isn’t neutrality. It’s an active choice to target communities of color.

Justice can’t come from a court that twists itself to deny opportunity and expand oppression. It comes from us—organizing, resisting, and building systems rooted in true equity 🌱🤝🏽✊🏿.

When judges abuse their power, the public pays the price. ⚖️👀

Judge Enrique Monguia was just publicly admonished for threatening to shoot people in his courtroom and making degrading remarks about community members. This isn’t an isolated incident—it’s part of a pattern that undermines trust and harms people who appear before him.

And yet, a public admonishment doesn’t mean removal. Judge Monguia isn’t up for reelection until 2029. Until then, he remains on the bench.

That’s why tools like Rate My Judge matter. Community members have already left negative reviews, showing how the public can shine a light when the system falls short.

Ever wonder what really happens inside immigration court? 👀

Unlike criminal court, immigrants don’t get a jury or a public defender. Most must face a government prosecutor alone—and many do it without a lawyer, even children.

These hearings can last just a couple hours, with life-altering decisions made on the spot.

This isn’t justice. It’s bureaucracy in overdrive.

📣 We need transparency, legal representation, and real accountability in immigration court.

🚨 Immigration judges are being fired while DHS sidesteps court protections through expedited removal.

At the same time, immigrants — including children — are forced to face judges without lawyers, and ICE agents lurk in court hallways ready to detain people outside their hearings.

That’s why court watching is critical. 👀

👁️ When protestors were arrested for speaking out against ICE, Court Watch LA was there.

📰 This article from LA Public Press shows how everyday people stepped up to observe, document, and hold the courts accountable.

Courtrooms often operate in silence and secrecy but when we show up, we bring transparency, pressure, and protection. 💥
