✨MEET OUR BOARD: CRAIG EDSALL, TREASURER ✨

Today, we’re excited to introduce Craig Edsall, Treasurer of Beauty with Heart Foundation!

Craig brings more than two decades of military leadership and service through the U.S. Army and U.S. Coast Guard. Throughout his career, he served on four continents and gained extensive experience managing major budgets, supply chains, and large-scale operations. Before retiring, Craig served as a Finance & Supply Division Chief, overseeing 15 Coast Guard units across four states.

His commitment to service extends far beyond his military career. Craig has worked with numerous nonprofit organizations and in disaster response and is trained as a FEMA Finance and Logistics Section Chief. During the response to Hurricane Harvey, he played an instrumental role in establishing supply chains and a support center, and in coordinating the distribution of emergency supplies to first responders and communities in need.

Craig graduated magna cm laude from Lake Superior State University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. As Treasurer, he helps oversee the Foundation’s finances and works to ensure that every dollar entrusted to Beauty with Heart has a meaningful impact on the children and families we serve.

But Craig’s connection to our mission is also deeply personal.

After experiencing homelessness as a child following a house fire, Craig understands how important stability, compassion, and support can be during uncertain circumstances. That understanding grew even deeper through his wife’s experience in the foster care system.

That experience left Craig with a belief that sits at the heart of why he serves with Beauty with Heart: there is incredible potential within children in foster care, and sometimes they simply need someone willing to believe in them, support them, and help show them the way.

For Craig, service to his country and his community has always been a part of who he is. We are grateful to have his experience, leadership, and heart behind the mission of Beauty with Heart Foundation. ❤️

A HUGE thank you to Duffle Bag Project and Christy's Legacy of Hope for making this possible for the children we serve. Because of this incredible generosity, 240 foster children will receive their very own personalized duffle bag this Christmas. 🥹🎄

As a foundation, this means so much to us. We want every child we serve to know they are seen, valued, loved, and worthy, and these bags are so much more than something to carry their belongings in. They represent dignity, care, and a community saying, “You matter.”

✨ Meet the Board: Erin Drake ✨

One of the hearts behind our mission 🤍

Erin has been a nurse for 16 years and has proudly served as a school nurse with the Long Beach School District for 11 years. Through her years of serving children in public education, Erin has witnessed firsthand the challenges foster children and underserved youth face in our community. She has also seen how something as simple as kindness, encouragement, and knowing that someone cares can make a lasting difference in a child’s life.

Anyone who knows Erin knows that she has a BIG heart for children and is always willing to step in and help wherever she is needed. Her experiences working directly with foster children have given her an even deeper understanding of the needs these children face and the importance of making sure they feel seen, valued, and loved.

As her friendship with cofounder Jen grew and she learned more about the mission of Beauty with Heart Foundation, Erin knew it was something she wanted to be a part of. Her heart for children and her desire to serve our community make her such a meaningful part of our board.

Through Beauty with Heart Foundation, Erin hopes to help bring hope, joy, and a sense of belonging to children who may otherwise fall through the cracks. She believes that sometimes the smallest acts of kindness can leave the biggest impact.

At the heart of it all, Erin simply wants these children to know they matter, they are worthy, and there are people who truly care about them. 🤍

We are incredibly grateful to have Erin serving on our board and helping us make a difference, one child at a time.

Welcome to our very first Foster Fact Friday🤍

Each Friday, Beauty With Heart Foundation will share facts about foster care to educate our community, raise awareness, and deepen understanding of the children and families impacted by the foster care system.

So, let's start with the basics: What exactly is foster care?

Foster care is intended to provide a temporary, safe living environment for children who cannot remain safely in their own homes. Children may enter foster care for many different reasons and circumstances, and no two children's stories are exactly the same.

Whenever possible, the goal is to safely reunify children with their families. When reunification is not possible, other permanent options may be considered.

Behind every statistic is a child who deserves stability, encouragement, dignity, and a community that cares.

Follow along each Friday as we learn more about foster care, challenge misconceptions, and discover ways we can better support foster youth right here in our community!

✨ MEET OUR CO-FOUNDER & VICE PRESIDENT — LAUREN RILEY DUBUISSON ✨

It’s about time we officially introduced the other half of the heart behind Beauty with Heart Foundation. ❤️

If you know Lauren, you already know she has one of the biggest hearts of anyone you’ll ever meet.

Lauren will be the first to tell you that she was incredibly fortunate growing up. She had two amazing parents, and a loving and supportive home.
But what I love most about Lauren is that she has never looked at what she had and taken it for granted. Instead, she has always wanted to give some of that love and happiness to someone else. She once told me a story that I think perfectly explains who Lauren is.

When she switched from private school to public school, she began meeting kids whose lives looked very different from hers. She realized that not every child had birthday parties, presents, or the kind of family experiences she had grown up with. So she went home and told her mom she didn’t want birthday presents anymore. Instead, she wanted people to bring donations for children in need.

She was a kid herself. ❤️

That tells you just about everything you need to know about Lauren. And that heart never left her. Over the years, she has volunteered at camps helping children in need, and when we started collecting Christmas gifts for teenagers in foster care, Lauren jumped in without hesitation and made sure it happened. When there is a child who needs something or someone who needs help, she is the type of person who immediately asks, “What can we do?”

One thing Lauren has said to me that has always stuck with me is that if she can give even a sliver of the childhood she was blessed with to a child in foster care or an underserved child, then she knows she is making a difference. And THAT is exactly the kind of heart I wanted beside me when we created Beauty with Heart Foundation. ❤️

Lauren would do just about anything for anyone. She gives without expecting anything in return, she genuinely cares about people, and she has a heart for children that has clearly been there since she was a child herself. I truly couldn’t have chosen a better person to build this foundation alongside.

So if you haven’t officially met her yet, meet Lauren Riley Dubuisson, Co-Founder and Vice President of Beauty with Heart Foundation. ❤️

The heart behind so much of what we do, and someone I am incredibly grateful to call my partner in this mission and, even more importantly, my friend.
We may have come from very different childhoods, but somehow those two stories brought us together with the exact same goal:

To make sure more kids know that their circumstances do not determine their worth, and that there are people in their corner who care.

And I couldn’t imagine doing any of this without her. ❤️

We’ve had so many new people finding our page lately, so we wanted to take a minute to share a little of the heart behind what we do.

Beauty with Heart Foundation was created right here in Long Beach with a mission to support and uplift foster and underserved children in our community through self-care, mentorship, education and meaningful experiences.

These photos are from our very first fundraiser, our Blow-Out-A-Thon, where this incredible community helped us raise over $3,000! ❤️

And that was only the beginning.

Now we’re preparing for our next big mission, bringing our community together to help create an unforgettable Christmas for local children in foster care. 🎄❤️
