Grab your passport, because this week our Wonders of the World campers traveled the globe right here at Camp J316!
Our first through third graders spent the week visiting a new country each day, discovering incredible traditions, foods, and landmarks along the way.
The adventure began with the Water Safety Council, who taught our campers how to stay safe in the water and properly wear their life jackets. They even welcomed a special guest, Sammie the Sea Otter! Littleton Baptist Church blessed us with a delicious lunch of tacos and watermelon, Mr. Devin reminded everyone in devotion that God knows my name, and campers cooled off with an afternoon swim in the lake.
Next, our travelers journeyed to the Pyramids of Giza with Camp Counselor Ms. Diamond, then got creative making beautiful ocean mosaics. During devotion, Ms. Emma invited campers to imagine boarding an airplane and touring some of the most breathtaking sights on earth, a giant canyon, the deep blue ocean, the tallest mountain, reminding them that God made every one of these wonders. Then came the biggest surprise of all. Just when you think you have seen the greatest wonder of the world, the plane stops, you look around, and there is no mountain, no ocean, no canyon, only a mirror. When our campers looked in that mirror, they saw themselves. Ms. Emma asked, "Did you know that YOU are one of God's greatest creations?" pointing them to the truth of Psalm 139:14, "I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made."
The journey continued to the Grand Canyon with Counselor Emma, and The Landing of Lake Gaston generously provided lunch. Ms. Diamond led devotion, and campers were treated to an unforgettable afternoon of swimming and a boat ride with Captains Chip and Cindy.
What a week of adventure, discovery, and reminders that each of our campers is wonderfully made by God. We are so grateful for every counselor, church, and community partner who made this journey around the world possible!
