This is so sad. Every squad needs volunteers. Drop by the station if you would like to volunteer.
Today is a heartbreaking day for the Susquehanna and Wayne County EMS community as we say goodbye to Pleasant Mount EMS. Pleasant Mount EMS will cease Operations as a Transport Ambulance at Midnight tonight, 9/30/2026.
For years, Pleasant Mount EMS has responded to Emergencies in Herrick Township and Uniondale Boro in Susquehanna County as well as various other Communities in Wayne County as well as providing mutual aid to various agencies in Wayne and Susquehanna County.
These volunteers gave their time, energy, and hearts to serve their neighbors.Unfortunately, like so many volunteer emergency services, Pleasant Mount EMS is closing due to a lack of volunteers.
It is sad to think that an organization built on helping others is being forced to close—not because the need for emergency medical services has disappeared or lessened but rather because there simply aren't enough people willing or able to volunteer their time.
To every EMT, driver, officer, and volunteer who gave their time to Pleasant Mount EMS: **thank you.** Your service mattered. Your sacrifices mattered. And the lives you touched will never forget what you did for this community.
This is more than the closing of an ambulance service. It is the loss of a piece of the community and a reminder of how important our volunteer first responders truly are.
Thank you, Pleasant Mount EMS, for answering the call for so many years.
Let this serve as a reminder, If you have ever been interested in volunteering, visit or contact your local Fire/EMS Department. Volunteers are a dying breed and the crisis is real. Be part of the solution to keep your Local Departments a float!
