The why behind the weekend.

A tribute to Dave Reynolds

This weekend is the Dave Reynolds Memorial Tournament—our home tournament.

Many people will hear the name Dave Reynolds this weekend, but some may not know who he was or why we play a tournament that bears his name.

The Dave Reynolds Memorial Baseball Tournament is named in honor of a man whose impact on our community extended far beyond the baseball field.

Dave Reynolds dedicated countless hours to the game he loved as a youth and high school baseball coach. For many of us, he wasn’t just a coach—he was a mentor, a role model, and someone who helped shape the people we became. Many of the coaches participating in this tournament had the privilege of playing for Dave and experienced firsthand the passion, dedication, and kindness he brought to everything he did.

Dave believed baseball was about more than wins and losses. He taught hard work, respect, teamwork, and perseverance. He loved coaching, but more importantly, he loved the kids he coached. He invested in young people, pushed them to be their best, and celebrated their successes both on and off the field.

Away from baseball, Dave was known as someone who would always lend a helping hand. He volunteered his time, served his community, and inspired others through his actions. Whether someone needed advice, support, or simply an extra set of hands, Dave was always willing to help.

Later in life, Dave found great joy in being a father and grandfather. He loved supporting his children and grandchildren in their racing endeavors and cherished the time he spent with family and friends. He also enjoyed his days on the golf course. While he was an amateur golfer, he was a professional trash talker—a title he wore proudly.

Dave’s legacy lives on through the players he coached, the families he touched, and the countless lives he influenced along the way.

We are proud to honor his memory and ensure that future generations know the name of a man who gave so much to the game of baseball and to the people around him.

This weekend, as our players take the field, may they play the game with the passion, respect, and love that Dave brought to it every day. May they play in a way that would make him proud.
