Healthy Black Families, Inc. was proud to be in New Orleans! 🌹🤎

During Black Breastfeeding Week, members of Healthy Black Families, Inc. had the opportunity to attend the Reaching Our Sisters Everywhere (ROSE), Inc. and Reaching Our Brothers Everywhere (ROBE) 15th Anniversary Breastfeeding & Birth Justice Summit: “The 92%: Breastfeeding, Power & Birth Justice.”

The summit brought together Black lactation professionals, birth workers, parents, fathers, community leaders, researchers, advocates, and partners committed to advancing breastfeeding equity and birth justice.

We are grateful to have been in a space where Black families, Black birth experiences, and culturally grounded solutions were centered.

We listened, learned, connected, shared, and brought new knowledge home with us—because attending the summit was never just about being present. It was about strengthening the work we continue to do alongside Black mothers and families in our communities.

As Black Breastfeeding Week comes to a close, we're carrying these conversations forward. Breastfeeding justice and birth justice require more than a week of recognition—they require continued community, advocacy, resources, and action.

Thank you, ROSE and ROBE , for creating space going on 15 years for the work to continue toward a future where Black families can thrive. 🌹

It's Workplace Lactation Week (WLW)! The 2026 WLW theme is "Work. Pump. Advance. Empowering the modern parent." Workplace Lactation Week was created in 2023 by Healthy Horizons and is celebrated annually from September 1-7. The observance celebrates the contributions of nursing mothers and parents in the workplace and aligns with Labor Day, highlighting the vital role working and pumping parents play in the workforce.​
