On the night of October 27th (tonight) they say that the spirits of animals return for a moment to the places they loved. So if you feel a warm presence near you tonight, know that your furry angel has come to visit. Set out their favorite things, whisper their name, and remember them with love. ❤️🐾

October 27 is a special day within the Día de los Mu***os (Day of the Dead) tradition a time to honor the spirits of our beloved pets who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge.

While Día de los Mu***os spans several days of remembrance, this day is reserved just for them, the loyal companions who once filled our homes and hearts with love.

Many families create ofrendas (altars) decorated with their pets’ favorite toys, treats, photos, collars, and candles welcoming their spirits back home, if only for a moment.

Some even leave bowls of water or cozy blankets to comfort their souls after their long journey.

Girl Scout Troop # 47310 knocked it out of the park for our pet food pantry at Pets Supplies Plus in Mundelein on Sunday. This is a great start in restocking the pantry after losing so much of our Inventory to bug and mold infested Purina products. We will no longer be using Purina products for the foreseeable future until Purina makes a effort and truly cares about the animals they serve.
Thank you Troop # 47310 for such a amazing day and thank you to Pets Supplies Plus in Mundelein for your community support.

A laid back Monday Morning Coffee and Cuddles today. Chores were all done and nothing was pressing so we all just vegged together and enjoyed bagels and coffee from George and Karen. A great way to ease into our week.

SHAME on Purina!
A recall MUST be issued
In a effort to stop this month long struggle with black bugs, mold and baby maggots, we will no longer be accepting donations of any dry Purina Pet Food until issue is addressed. We have spent countless man hours trying to protect the clients of our pet food pantry, on the phone with Purina reps and management and lugging all of their effected food to the dumpster and all the while, they have never apologized, have blamed us and all of the pet stores and have not offered any type of resolution. All of this food was factory sealed and best buy dated April 2027 and June 2027. We have contacted our local pet food stores and they have had much the same experience. THIS is NOT OKAY and it has now depleted our pet food pantry by 3/4 over the last month. PLEASE everyone using Purina products, check your bags closely and watch your pets. Have they been sick? Have they turned away from their food recently?
I want to thank Tony, our inventory control specialist who has been working tirelessly to keep our pantry clients and their pets safe. Out of a abundance of caution at this point, All Purina dry Cat and Dog Products have been pulled from our shelves and have been disposed of.

Courtesy Post Only:
Sugar is not a part or available through Our House of Hope Rescue. We have never seen or met Sugar.
If you are interested in Sugar or have more questions in regard to their description of her, her owners contact info is in post and they would love to hear from you as they are seeking a new loving home for her.

Sugar is roughly 1y old female and was rescued from a really rough situation. She was found at a job site severely underweight, covered in urine, and had been kept in a crate for days. She was also extremely anemic when she went to the vet. She’s doing SO much better now and has gained healthy weight!

She’s medium/high energy, crate trained, knows sit, learns quickly, very sweet and affectionate, and extremely food motivated. She can be a little skittish and is still learning boundaries. She does well with other dogs but can get overexcited and play hard. She’s also doing well with potty training as long as she has a consistent routine.

Unfortunately, Lucy her house mate has become very protective of the owner around other dogs, and worried Sugar could eventually get hurt.

If anyone knows someone who might be a good fit for Sugar, please let me know!
