As autumn arrives, our team at The Lake County Community Foundation (LCCF) is reflecting on the past year with deep gratitude for you.

Over the last year, nonprofits, donors, partners and neighbors have come together, leaned on one another and found solutions side-by-side through a time marked by uncertainty, instability and fear.

Last week, LCCF hosted our semi-annual, in-person RESPOND meeting, gathering frontline human service providers to connect, share resources and strengthen the coordination of client services.

RESPOND is a coalition of caseworkers, counselors, outreach specialists and other frontline providers that offers networking, education and coordination of client services. Members learn about services across Lake County and build relationships that lead to stronger referrals and better coordination for our neighbors.

At this meeting, we were joined by Tiffany King and Elmer Fallos of Warren Township and Cheri Neal and Adriana Ortiz of Zion Township, who spoke about the important roles townships play in connecting neighbors with emergency assistance, basic needs resources and other support.

At our annual Gratitude Gathering, LCCF proudly awarded longtime volunteer Steve Fox with The Martha R. Hinchman Award of Volunteer Excellence.

Established in 2023 and named after former Board Chair, the Martha R. Hinchman Award is bestowed upon exemplary LCCF volunteers who share Martha’s passion and dedication in advancing the Foundation’s impact and mission.

Steve has been involved in the Foundation for several years and has been an active Board member since 2019. Steve served on our Campaign Cabinet and Finance Committee bringing his diligence and dedication to every meeting and conversation. He has been an incredible supporter and an insightful thought partner during LCCF’s growth and process to achieve independence, and long after.

The LCCF Board of Directors and team extend our sincere gratitude to Steve for his outstanding volunteerism.

Join Forefront and LCCF on Wednesday, October 21 for a virtual session introducing Forefront’s free, confidential Nonprofit Resilience Hub, a resource designed to support Illinois nonprofits navigating federal uncertainty and organizational challenges.

The Forefront team will provide an overview of the Hub’s legal, financial, strategic partnership and prospect research services, as well as how nonprofits can access these resources and connect with the support that best fits their organization.

We know that local nonprofits are often balancing immediate community needs with the ongoing work of strengthening their organizations. Resources like the Resilience Hub can provide additional support along the way.

LCCF had the pleasure of hosting our annual Gratitude Gathering earlier this fall.

Alongside our caring community of donors, volunteers, family foundation and nonprofit partners, we celebrated the impact of the Campaign for A Thriving Lake County. It was a special moment to reflect on what we can accomplish when Lake County comes together around a shared commitment to our community.

We are excited to continue building on the momentum of the Campaign and fostering a Lake County where all our neighbors can thrive.

We are so fortunate to have a community that shows up, invests in Lake County and believes in what we can accomplish together. Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey and continues to support LCCF and our community!

Fall has already been a busy season at LCCF with so many opportunities to connect, learn and connect alongside our Lake County community, including:

- Bringing together prospective nonprofit board members with local nonprofits, in partnership with Vernon Area Public Library (VAPL) and Givenkindorg
- Exploring the power of DAFs with Josselyn, Nicasa Behavioral Health Services, VAPL and GiveNkind
- Connecting with fellow Grow Lake County partners
- Participating in Safe Zone training with Lgbtq+ Center Lake County
and College of Lake County

We’re grateful for the partners and community members who make these opportunities possible and look forward to all that’s still ahead this fall!
