Starting tomorrow 🗓️, the Medicare Open Enrollment portal opens. Here at Davidson Medical Ministries & DC Connect, we house the SHIIP (Senior Health Insurance Information Program) provided by the NC Department of Insurance in Davidson County. The SHIIP Program provides FREE, unbiased Medicare information and counseling.

We have trained volunteers that can help you better understand your options including, Medicare Advantage, Medicare Part D prescription drug plans, Medicare supplements, Extra Help, Medicare Savings Program, and more. SHIIP Counselors don’t sell or endorse insurance plans, their goal is to provide information so you can make informed decisions about the coverage that best works for you.

From October 15- December 7, Medicare beneficiaries have the opportunity to review their current coverage or make changes for the upcoming year. Navigating Medicare doesn’t have to be something you do alone 🤝. Our SHIIP volunteers are proud to serve Davidson County helping individuals and caregivers better understand their options and connect with the information they need. ✅

We were delighted to host this morning’s Lexington Area Chamber of Commerce (NC) breakfast in our new office and HUB space🙌! It was great to connect with our community partners and local businesses with some great food and the coffee ☕️ courtesy

Janise shared our mission and vision for the HUB, and everyone toured the facility to see the space taking shape.

The HUB represents hope, connection, and a healing place for individuals and families to find support and community resources ❤️. Our building will bring light 💡 into darkness for people going through difficult times, showing them they don’t have to face them alone.

Thank you to everyone who joined us this morning and shared in our excitement of what’s ahead. Together we’re building a healthier, more connected Davidson County! 🤝❤️💙

DC Connect is proud to work with over 60 dedicated local partners to serve those in our community who need it most. Our goal is to provide a gateway to resources for those who are post-incarcerated, struggling with substance use, or experiencing homelessness. Today we’re highlighting Alderwood of Davidson County ❤️❤️.

Alderwood of Davidson County, formerly Hospice of Davidson County, has been a trusted part of our community for more than 40 years. As a local, not-for-profit organization, Alderwood provides hospice care, palliative care, and grief and bereavement support to individuals and families throughout Davidson County and surrounding communities. ❤️❤️

While the name has changed, their commitment to the people they serve remains at the heart of everything they do. Expanded services allow them to support individuals and families through more stages of serious illness—from palliative care focused on comfort and quality of life, to hospice care wherever a patient calls home, to grief and bereavement resources for families and members of our community.

At Alderwood of Davidson County, care extends beyond the patient. Their interdisciplinary team provides medical, emotional, social, and spiritual support while helping patients and families navigate some of life's most important moments.

As we continue transforming the HUB into a place of connection, hope, and healing, we’re taking a moment to recognize one of the people who helped inspire the vision behind DC Connect and the HUB. Joe Wallace, retiring Executive Director of the Lexington Area Chamber of Commerce (NC) 💙. Here is what Joe had to say on where the vision began, what the HUB will mean for Davidson County and why bringing resources together in one place makes a difference!

“DC Connect was created to help individuals and families find the information, services, and community resources they need without having to navigate the journey alone 🤝. The HUB will take that mission even further by creating a one-stop shop where people can connect with vital services and resources. Helping remove barriers such as not knowing where to turn, transportation challenges, or having services spread throughout the county. Supporting the HUB isn’t only about helping one individual or family, when we help our neighbors move forward, we strengthen Davidson County as a whole and help create a community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive ❤️!”

As Joe begins his new chapter into retirement, we are incredibly grateful for his vision, leadership, and commitment to making Davidson County a stronger and more connected community! Thank you Joe, for helping plant the seeds 🌱 of a vision that will continue impacting Davidson County for years to come! 🙌❤️

DC Connect is proud to work with over 60 dedicated local partners to serve those in our community who need it most. Our goal is to provide a gateway to resources for those who are post-incarcerated, struggling with substance use, or experiencing homelessness.

Today we want to highlight our partnership with The Life Center of Davidson County,Inc. ❤️❤️The Life Center provides high quality day time care to older and impaired adults from all areas of Davidson County. Seeking to improve the quality of life for them and their caregivers by offering support, relief, respite, and counsel. Through meaningful and enriching programming, they strive to enhance the lives of participants and their families by fostering community, creativity, and connection.

Their services include Activities & Crafts Monthly Health Checks 🎶🎵Music and Memory Program: The Life Center is a Music and Memory certified organization, which is a non-profit that brings a person’s favorite music to help people with Alzheimer's, dementia or other challenges to reconnect with memories, emotions, and the world around them. Center For Dementia Respite Innovation: Awarded the Dementia Respite Innovation Grant from the Alzheimer’s Association providing extra care, activities and support such as bathing assistance, weekly art activities 🎨, interactive technologies, Tai Chi and Yoga , healthier meals 🍎🍇🍐, and help for caregivers with future care planning. 💙❤️

The Life Center is also the only center in North Carolina to have earned the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America’s Excellence in Care (EIC) Dementia Care Program of Distinction. Highlighting their commitment to person-center, high quality dementia care. We are proud to stand alongside a great agency like The Life Center of Davidson County. DC Connect is proud to work with over 60 dedicated local partners to serve those in our community who need it most. Our goal is to provide a gateway to resources for those who are post-incarcerated, struggling with substance use, or experiencing homelessness.

Today we want to highlight our partnership with The Arc of Davidson County, ❤️❤️. The Arc is dedicated to supporting and advocating for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to be given opportunities to live more independent, meaningful, and included lives in the community. Through advocacy, residential support, employment help, activity programs, community networking, and more, The ARC helps individuals have a voice, be active, and included 💕.

One of their services include the Bridges Program. Supporting folks by “Bridging the gap” into the community and to skills or pursuits that are meaningful to them. Believing a curious attitude and an open mind can lead to learning all sorts of things from our surroundings. They also connect in the community such as becoming Meals on Wheels volunteers, growing their own garden, visiting local businesses to learn from them, and having amazing art classes 🖌️ with the Hometown Art Guild. They had an art show, met a senator, and learned skills like cooking 🍳, gardening 🌱, transaction skills, and social skills.

Some other services include respite care giving caregivers a temporary break while making sure their loved ones receive quality support. They also partner with Davidson's Parks and Recreation to provide an inclusive summer camp experience for children with and without disabilities participating in sports, arts, crafts, and have fun.

We're thankful for The Arc of Davidson County for creating a more inclusive DC community. We are proud to stand alongside a great agency like The ARC of Davidson County. Thank you for everything you do for the DC community ❤️❤️!

DC Connect is proud to work with over 60 dedicated local partners to serve those in our community who need it most. Our goal is to provide a gateway to resources for those who are post-incarcerated, struggling with substance use, or experiencing homelessness.

Today we want to highlight our partnership with Cancer Services of Davidson County ❤ ❤. A cancer diagnosis affects more than a person’s health- it can take an emotional, physical, and financial toll on both the patients and their families. That’s where Cancer Services steps in, providing compassionate support to individuals throughout their cancer journey.

Their services include:
💲 Financial Support: Help eligible patients with the cost of cancer-related medications and transportation so they can focus on getting the care they need.
❤️‍🩹Emotional Support: Offering caring conversations, support groups, and encouragement to help patients and their families cope with the emotional challenges of cancer.
🦽, Physical Support: Providing medical equipment supplies and other essential items to help cancer patients stay safe, comfortable, and independent during treatment.

Their mission is to ensure that no one in Davidson County has to face cancer alone. ❤ ❤ Cancer Services of Davidson County continues to help local families navigate one of life’s most difficult challenges with dignity and care.
