Over the 4th of July week and weekend, Coach/Sensei Jon Morrow and seven athletes of the Inland Empire AAU Karate Team traveled to Fort Lauderdale, Florida and competed in the 2026 AAU Karate National Championships. This was the largest group taken to Nationals in the team's history and the team took home 8 medals, including a National Championship Gold Medal by Senior Anton Arthur in short weapons with his Nunchaku. Arthur was also the recipient of the AAU Michael Eggleston Memorial Karate Scholarship, awarded during opening ceremonies.

Congratulations to the team and congratulations to our two high school graduates Anton Arthur and Makaela Everheart as they competed in their final National competition for the IEAAU Karate Program. Best of luck to Anton Arthur as he helps represent the United States in the WUKF World Karate Championships in Romania in two weeks!

On Saturday, June 13th, Coach/Sensei Jon Morrow, all eight athletes of the Inland Empire AAU Karate Team, and several members of World of Martial Arts' Karate 60 program and the dojo competed at their home, Friendship Open karate tournament at Lincoln Middle School in Clarkston, WA.

The following athletes (half of the tournament team!) earned triple crown finishes in their regular divisions for kobudo, kata, and kumite: CC Subis, Luke Heavrin, Maverick Campbell, and Anton Arthur, who also earned Adult Grand Champion in Kata in his last home tournament before he heads to college this fall.

Congratulations to the team and congratulations to our two high school graduates Anton Arthur and Makaela Everheart who have provided invaluable leadership, mentoring, and friendship to our younger athletes over many years! Best of luck at college, and best of luck to all athletes competing at Nationals in a few weeks!
