Stop by and visit us this Saturday at the 2nd annual Unity in Our Community Juneteenth Celebration We'll be set up along with lots of other vendors at Dorie Miller Park in Lewisburg. It's going to be a beautiful and day and lots of fun!

The North House Museum will be closed during regular business hours on Friday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth, but we hope you’ll join us that evening as we kick off two days of reflection, celebration, and community!

At 6 p.m. on Friday, head to the Old Stone Room at Carnegie Hall for “Unity in Our Community: A Juneteenth Celebration” featuring keynote speaker Dr. Joseph Evans.

Then, at 7:30 p.m., make your way to the North House Museum for our “Echoes of Slavery” exhibit, refreshments, and a special visit from “Nancy Leticia Perkins Calendar”. Born into slavery in 1846, Nancy Perkins Calendar went on to become a free woman and successful business owner whose restaurant welcomed customers in downtown Lewisburg in the early 1900s. Her remarkable story offers a powerful glimpse into our community’s history.

While you’re there, you can also visit our “Greenbrier Brides: A Romantic Step Back in Time” exhibit. Admission to the Greenbrier Brides exhibit is $5, while the Echoes of Slavery exhibit and all Juneteenth programs are free and open to the public.

The celebration continues on Saturday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Dorie Miller Park with delicious food, local vendors, music, fellowship, and fun for the whole family.

All Juneteenth events are presented by the Greenbrier County Unity Committee with support from the Greenbrier Historical Society.

And while you’re out enjoying the Juneteenth celebration and West Virginia Day festivities, be sure to stop by the North House Museum! We’ll be open regular hours on Saturday, June 20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. We’d love to see you.

We look forward to celebrating with you this weekend!
