💗 Welcome to the farm, Lucy! 💗

Yesterday, we welcomed a very special new face to the farm — an older Thoroughbred mare named Lucy.

Lucy’s owner sadly passed away, and her family reached out to us to see if we could help give Lucy the safe and loving future she deserves. We were honored to say yes. ❤️

We know that making the decision to find a new home for a beloved horse can be incredibly difficult, especially during a time of loss. We are grateful Lucy’s family trusted us to help her begin this next chapter.

For now, Lucy’s only job is to settle in, relax, and get to know us and her new surroundings. She is not currently available for adoption. We’ll be taking our time learning about her personality, needs, quirks, and history so that we can make the very best decisions for her future.

We are also working to piece together more of Lucy’s story, so stay tuned — we’ll share updates as we get to know this sweet girl. 🥰

And when the time eventually comes to find Lucy her forever home, we’ll be looking for nothing less than the most perfect match. She has already experienced a huge life change, and our promise to her is that she will never be passed around. Her next home needs to be truly forever. 💗

In the meantime, if you’d like to help us care for Lucy while she settles in, donations toward her feed, veterinary care, farrier work, and other expenses are always deeply appreciated. Every bit helps us give horses like Lucy the time and care they deserve.

🐴 Barn Cleanup Day — Volunteers Needed! 🧹
We’re looking for some helping hands for a barn cleanup day at Blue Pine Stables, the farm that is home to Blue Dahlia Equine. 💙

Keeping the barn and surrounding areas clean, organized, and safe is an important part of caring for our horses — and we could use a few extra hands to get the job done!

Whether you’re part of our Blue Dahlia community, a friend, or simply someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves and helping out, we’d love to have you join us.

No horse experience is necessary — just come prepared to work, get a little dirty, and make a difference!

ADOPTED! ❤️

We are so excited to celebrate Goldini and his new chapter with Shae!

This special guy was selected to go to the Retired Racehorse Project, and while we were excited about the opportunity to take him, our ultimate goal has always been the same: to find each of our Thoroughbreds the perfect home where they can truly thrive.

So, while he won’t be making the trip to Kentucky with us after all, we couldn’t be happier about where he is going.

We are incredibly grateful that he has found such a wonderful home and are so excited to follow along as they begin their journey together. We have a feeling there are some pretty amazing adventures ahead!

Congratulations, Shae, and congratulations to Goldini on his happily ever after! We couldn’t have asked for a better outcome. ❤️🐎

From scrubbing buckets and water troughs, to grooming our horses, to making homemade horse popsicles to help everyone stay cool in this summer heat—she always goes above and beyond. Her kindness and dedication make a huge difference every single day, and we truly couldn't do what we do without amazing people like her.

🎉 Big news! 🎉

We are so excited to share that Sarah, our Founder & Executive Director, has been accepted to compete in the 2026 Retired Racehorse Project with one of our incredible Thoroughbreds! 🐎✨

The Retired Racehorse Project is so much more than a competition—it's a celebration of the versatility, athleticism, and heart of the Thoroughbred. It provides an incredible opportunity to support the breed and the aftercare industry while giving recently retired racehorses a chance to launch their second careers in a welcoming environment designed for green horses and supported by an amazing community of collaborative trainers.

We've been hard at work with both Merlin and Goldini, and we couldn't be prouder of how far they've come since hanging up their racing plates. Both have shown tremendous progress and bright futures ahead!

After much thought, we've decided that Goldini will be our 2026 Retired Racehorse Project partner! With Merlin still being so young—and remaining eligible for the RRP in 2027—we're giving her a little more time to grow while Goldini takes center stage this year.

✨ Follow along as we document Goldini's Road to the RRP! We'll be sharing his training milestones, behind-the-scenes moments, and all the ups and downs leading to Kentucky.

💙 And don't forget about Merlin! She is an exceptional young Thoroughbred with so much potential and is still searching for her perfect person. If you've been thinking about adding a smart, athletic, and kind-hearted partner to your barn, Merlin just might be the one. We'd love nothing more than to see her find an amazing adoptive home where she can continue her journey.

It's been a busy few weeks at the farm, and while we've been a little quieter online, the horses have kept us moving! We have lots of exciting updates to share over the next few weeks—from improvements around the farm to exciting opportunities for our horses. Stay tuned!

UPDATE

After careful consideration, we've decided to postpone tomorrow night's Trivia Fundraiser and reschedule it for a later date.

Our goal is to make this event as successful as possible for the horses in our care, and we feel that giving ourselves a little more time to promote the event and reach more supporters will help us maximize its fundraising impact.

We're grateful for everyone's support and enthusiasm, and we'll announce a new date soon. We hope you'll join us then!

A huge thank you to everyone who came out and participated in our Equine Trivia Night!

Your enthusiasm, great questions, and support made the evening such a fun and educational experience for everyone involved.

We’d especially like to thank our incredible veterinarian, Dr. Ashley Alberts, for guiding the trivia questions and leading such thoughtful and informative discussions throughout the night, and Breckenridge Farms for donating a portion of the food for the evening.

Thanks to your support, we raised enough funds to help cover a portion of our spring veterinary expenses, including vaccinations and dental care for the horses. Every dollar truly makes a difference in the care we’re able to provide.

We’re excited to announce that another Trivia Night is already planned for June 9th with a very special guest — stay tuned for details and registration information coming soon!
