🌽❀️ Giving back to our community ❀️🌽

The Decatur County Farm Bureau is proud to support the Garden Grove Food Pantry with a $300 donation to help local individuals and families facing food insecurity. DCFB Treasurer Stephanie Mendenhall presented the check to Garden Grove Food Pantry Director Amy Peplinski alongside Karen Schuldt, DCFB Office Assistant.

The Garden Grove Food Pantry officially opened on March 12, 2026, at the Garden Grove Training Center, 403 Front Street, and continues to make a meaningful impact throughout Decatur County. On May 14 alone, the pantry served 41 families.

This important community resource is made possible through the generosity of local businesses, churches, organizations, volunteers, and community members who donate food and their time to help neighbors in need.

We encourage everyone to follow the Garden Grove Food Pantry’s page for upcoming food distribution and pickup dates.

Decatur County Farm Bureau remains committed to strengthening our communities, supporting access to safe and nutritious food, and advocating for agriculture and rural Iowa values.

πŸŒ½πŸ„ Ag Awareness Day was a HUGE success in Decatur County! πŸ–πŸšœ

On Tuesday, May 12, fourth- and fifth-grade students from Central Decatur, Lamoni, Mormon Trail Community Schools, Franklin Christian School, and the Leon Home School Program gathered at the Decatur County Fairgrounds for a fun and educational day focused on agriculture.

Students had the opportunity to explore a wide variety of hands-on learning stations covering topics such as livestock, crop production, precision agriculture, soil health, ag machinery, floral design, natural resources, fire safety, welding, rodeo, and much more!

A big thank you to the Decatur County Farm Bureau and Decatur County Cattlemen for providing lunch, and to all the volunteers, presenters, ag businesses, FFA chapters, community organizations, and sponsors who helped make the day possible.

Special thanks to Rosa Sondag for coordinating another outstanding Ag Awareness Day!

🌱 Events like these help students better understand the important role agriculture plays in our everyday lives and communities.
