The Heroes Among Us

April 2021, we organized a ride to raise money for his family.

What an honor to see this new bridge dedicated to K9 Deputy Logan Fox❤️❤️

The NCDOT held a dedication ceremony this morning at Valle Crucis Community Park to name the new N.C. 105 bridge over the Watauga River the “K9 Deputy Logan S. Fox Bridge.” Fox was with the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office when he was killed in the line of duty on April 28, 2021, along with fellow WCSO officer Sgt. Chris Ward. Stay tuned for the full story at www.wataugademocrat.com.

The Jeep community showed up when Western North Carolina needed it most. Now it’s time to show up again!

Jeepin’ to the Hollers is happening Saturday, November 7th, at the Parkway Fire & Rescue Event Grounds in Spruce Pine, NC!

When Hurricane Helene devastated our mountain communities, Jeepers were among those hauling supplies, clearing paths, and reaching families who were completely cut off.

More than two years later, the rebuilding continues.

This event benefits Rebuilding Hollers, a nonprofit helping families in Yancey and Mitchell counties recover and rebuild after Helene.

So grab your Jeep, bring your friends, and make plans to spend the day supporting a community that still needs us!

You don’t have to own a Jeep to show up and make a difference!

Tomorrow morning.

No registration.

No judging.

No trophies.

No requirement that your vehicle be spotless.

And absolutely no need to stand in the driveway at 7 AM debating whether your car is “nice enough.”

Bring it.

Heroes, Cars & Coffee has never been about having the most expensive thing in the parking lot.

It’s about the people standing around it.

So grab your keys, grab a friend and come spend Saturday morning with us.

This Week at THAU

Some weeks are about the work happening behind the scenes.

Some are about planning what’s next.

And some end with us looking at the calendar and realizing…

Tomorrow morning we’re taking over a parking lot. 😂

It’s Friday, which means it’s time for another weekly update from The Heroes Among Us.

We’ve got Heroes, Cars & Coffee tomorrow morning, Retro Rewind getting closer by the day, and plenty happening behind the scenes as we continue building toward the end of 2026 and what comes next.

Take a couple of minutes and catch up with us.

And if we haven’t said it lately:

Thank you for following this little organization.

Thank you for sharing our posts.

Thank you for showing up at our events.

Thank you for buying the coffee.

Thank you for making introductions.

Thank you for trusting us to keep doing the work.

Take care of each other…and we’ll see you tomorrow morning.

Heroes, Cars & Coffee — 48 Hours

48 hours.

That’s it.

Saturday morning we’re back at Bo’s for Heroes, Cars & Coffee, and this is your official reminder to quit saying:

“We need to go to one of those sometime.”

😂

Sometime is Saturday.

Bring the car.

Bring the truck.

Bring the motorcycle.

Bring the Jeep.

Bring the thing in the garage that your spouse has been asking when you’re finally going to do something with.

Or don’t bring anything at all.

You absolutely do not need a show vehicle to come hang out.

Just show up.

e're excited to welcome Matheson Towing as one of our Landmark Sponsors for Retro Rewind!

Matheson's is a family-owned towing and recovery business right here in Lenoir, serving our area when people find themselves needing a little help getting back on the road.

And now they're helping us build something completely different. 😂

Our Landmarks will be some of the larger themed features tucked throughout the neighborhoods of Retro Rewind—the pieces designed to catch your attention, pull you into the experience and probably end up in more than a few pictures throughout the night.

But their sponsorship is doing more than helping us build a really cool night.

Partnerships like this turn Retro Rewind into funding The Heroes Among Us can carry into 2027—giving us resources to continue supporting our local heroes and stepping in when individuals and families in our community face an unexpected crisis.

A HUGE thank you to the Matheson family for jumping in and becoming part of what we're building. We appreciate you guys!

Bring the kiddos to Heroes, Cars, & Coffee- October 2026 Saturday!

Harrison ESD K9 is bringing coloring pages just for us!

10/15/2026

🚔🐾 We’ve got some special guests joining us at Heroes, Cars & Coffee this Saturday!

Well, technically, they’re part of the family… but we’re pretty sure Harrison is going to steal the show anyway! 😂

THAU Board Member Doug Dupell will be joining us with his four-legged partner, K9 Harrison, from the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office!

And fellow Board Member Jake Macchia will be there representing the NC State Highway Patrol, bringing along the Mustang! 🏎️

One of the things we love most about Heroes, Cars & Coffee is the opportunity to bring our community and first responders together outside of an emergency.

Come check out the cars, meet the folks who serve our communities, ask questions, and say hello!

And yes, we’re fully expecting Harrison to get more attention than the Mustang. Sorry, Jake! 😂
